This thing ripped the bottle was glass and the downstem and bowl were metal. I used JB Weld to seal the joint, 100% airtight.

I am very close to completion on my first homemade piece. I made it with a Southern Comfort bottle, a downstem and slide from the headshop, and my ever-trusty dremel tool. The last thing I have to do is seal up where the stem enters the bottle. Even though I tried to be very meticulous in making the hole and checking my progress consistently, it isn't completely airtight. I was thinking I would either seal it with candle wax or some type of silicone/epoxy/sealer type substance. Or would it be better to widen the hole and try to use a rubber grommet? The main thing is I want it to look clean and professional... i.e. not duct tape or play dough. Thanks for any feedback yall can help me out with! I can't wait to try this baby out.

Bro that trophy works great as a stash place or bong...jus unscrew the bolt on bottom and it comes appart and is hollow...I made 1 with the exact same kind of trophy and som other stuff and she ripped hard
