Im making a bong i have the male bowl and stem setup (slide) but i need the female downstem now i have i a sharpie retractable highlighter that would work perfect but i dont know if its safe. The male bowl and slide is ALL metal The body is a acrylic vase from the flower section at the supermarker (stop and shop) The downstem is a sharpe retractable highlighter i think it would be safe because your not burning plastic and the bowl is not melting it either
idk the metal bowl might heat up and melt the plastic? if i were you i would go down to your local headshop or nearest convience store that sells paraphinelia and ask if they have cheap slides and put a rubber ring around your hole idk just my thoughts
Man i got to stop posting questions on gc at night i get so few answers... but anyway the thing is the bowl is made out of a 3 peices (Metal zebra pen,socket,Screen) and the bowl is removeable and i put my light over the bowl to put it out and i take alot of time waiting for my lungs to recover before i take my next hit But what if i put tape over the end of the sharpe to act as a rubber gromet would that be safe
here we go! heres what i recommend for homemades! get a slim cigar tube (metal) my local tobbaco store sells these white cigar metal tubes that are perfect. go to home depot get a lugnut that screws onto said metal tube... but i wouldnt do any of that... just get a bowl, and when you have the cash get a nice daily driver bong!
Tape is not the same as a rubber grommet, heat will melt tape, but heat will not melt or affect a rubber grommet as long as a flame is not directly applied to it. Using your homemade piece may be ok for a few times but please for your health just go buy a glass piece. Or make a gravity bong with a clean socket, those are fairly safe if you have no money for a piece.
You sure because im using duct tape and it seems to have a "Insulation" effect or maybe gum,or rubber tape And i would get a peice but i am usally to short on money and i dont have a ride besides id rather have a decent good looking homemade than some cheap 10$ thin china glass
If you want to take chances with your health then go ahead, or you could buy a cheap china glass bowl and know that it's going to hit like a champ and you're going to be inhaling 0 bad chemicals.
go to walmart or something, fine a bottle that looks like it could be a bottle for cheap ( i used a 2$ vinegar bottle) then go to lowes and buy a 5/8 diamon tipeed glass drill bit, then go to your head shop and by about a 6inch long down stem w/ a gromet (or 2 incase one gets cut on the glass or somethign) and buy a cheap bowl. Then, drill throguh the glass (you will know where, lol) underwater w/ running water over where your cutting and drill the hole, push in the gromet, wet the down stem and put it in, then boom, you have a good glass gromet style bong. It will hit like a champ and you will impress your buddies. 2$ vinegar bottle, 5 dollar down stem, 10 dollar bowl, 15$ drillbit. = 32$ for a great bong, plus all the pieces you need to make infineate amount of other bongs with the same parts but with different glass
don't put tape on it, just a little amount of heat and the glue will start to burn off, and you dont wanna inhale the glue fumes... you can get a complete setup for like 6 or 7 bucks at a headshop. you just need the grommets, a downstem, and a bowl..
I'm 95% sure you can just get a cheap $5 downstem and bowl from your local headshop. I'm all for home-made bongs, I got about $500 in glass bongs but I still love to make my own. But you gotta be smart about it.
