So today I started making a bong out of a coca cola bottle. I've never actually tried the stuff, so I'm making this for my friend and I to use next week. I've done some research and I'm pretty sure I've got everything down. I'd just like to get feedback on my handiwork, and maybe some tips on how to make it better and/or improve its functionality. Also, since I'm new to marijuana, any tips are helpful. Thank you all for reading.
I don't think you really need to make something like this, Since your so new it probably won't work that well Just use an apple, there's plenty of guides here to do it, and all over the internet Just look up "apple pipe"
1. Is there even a carb hole on it? Unless the socket for the bowl comes off? 2. Doesn't look particularly airtight in the first picture, should probably super glue that. 3. If you wanna test it out, just put some water in there see if it percolates.
I've seen those. I actually learned how to make one a few months ago from a friend. But she's adamant about using a bong or pipe, or else I'd definitely go for the apple.
Okay, so you get a bottle (the bigger, the better). Assuming you don't already have a bowl to use, you cut a hole in the cap of the bottle, and make a bowl with tin foil. Poke a few small holes it in, then screw the cap on. Then, you just put a hole on the side of the bottle as close to the bottom as possible (the closer to the bottom the more room you have for it to fill with smoke and still get some percolation). [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGpqVuJ5Xk8[/ame] Just for a reference Using it is really simple. Fill it up with water (while covering the hole at the bottom of course), screw on the cap with the bowl in it, flick the lighter and let go of the hole and it should suck the smoke into the bottle, once there's just a little bit of water above the hole left you cover the hole and then take off the cap and suck while you let go of the hole.
Also, how should I go about sealing it up to make it air tight? I was going to hot glue it, but I got to thinking that it could melt. Not to mention the fumes that stuff could give off.
Sorry for being such a bother, but why would I need a carb hole? Is it necessary? How would I go about doing that to my set up?
You don't, 'NEED' a carb hole, per say. But you wouldn't be able to clear it. I'd honestly say to just toss that shitty water bottle and make a waterfall bong, or at least use a different bottle because water bottles are just awful. You can use the stem and bowl on a different bottle, one that won't suck. My suggestion, a larger than normal sized vitamin water bottle. It worked pretty good for me when I needed it. Orrrr, if you reallyyyy want to, you can make a gravity bong. Suuuper simple to make, but not as easy to use, you risk losing a buncha smoke if you mess it up. Then again, you only load small bowls any ways.. Just try the waterfall bong once, I guarantee you'll like it.
The first pic is of my simple yet VERY effective waterfall(er). I used a bowl that didn't fit my bong (which I have actually managed to get multiple uses out of for homemade stuff) and a regular 1 liter Dr. Pepper bottle. The second pic (pardon the shitty LG Xenon camera) is what I was talking about on how what the bowl should look like if you have to make one. To make it, simply cut a large enough hole into the cap of the bottle you are using, grab a little 2 by 2 inch square piece of tin foil and press the tin foil down into the hole so that it forms a 'bowl', then just wrap the til foil around the lid until it's pressed completely against the lid (this makes it very airtight). You could also just tape some tin foil onto the lid and do the same thing but I prefer this method. Then, like I was saying before, just put a hole in the bottle near the very bottom, (or on the very bottom if you want, my friend mentioned that idea to me one time and it works great) and SKADOOSH, you gotcherself a waterfall bong that's ready for action. When you think about it, it's not really a 'bong' because it doesn't actually filter the smoke through the water, but regardless, they work great. I'm currently working on making one that has a downstem all the way to the bottom so it actually percolates.
