Since winter is coming up and I was bored as hell today I decided to make an auto-sploof.

    Parts used:
    Xbox 360 Fan
    Small cardboard box
    Dryer sheet
    Soldering stuff (solder, iron, wire,etc)
    9v battery
2 of those metal springs in remotes for AA batteries

I've been toying with this idea for a while to beat having to go outside but I didn't think I was actually going to make it. But then I got high, etc. So I decided to make this so that I could enjoy smoking inside without the bad smell.

This took a few hours to make and right now, unless I get a switch, you have to put the battery in and take it out every time you use it. I probably won't a get a switch because I really don't care that much because I just need it functional. Hope this helps others who would like to make something like this!

    Bad smell? Shame on you.

  3. lol my bad, I'm also going to be smoking cigarettes using it as well.

  4. nice..does it work good?

  5. Ya, if you look closely at the fan in the pic you see the blur of it spinning. I had it running in both pics.

  6. cool

i think he meant does it do its job, ya know make it not smell? i dont feel like it would....

    but still cool

  7. Looks interesting, sealing the crack under the door and using negative air-pressure via fans works best for me, but whatever works for you. Hope you can perfect it.

    They're not expensive either

EDIT: After reading your description below of what it's supposed to do, that's pretty awesome

  9. The desk you see in the pic is my computer and I just set it on top with the fan facing me and since I placed the fan backwards it just sucks up all the smoke and the gets filtered in a scented dryer sheet like a normal sploof does.
All this does is remove the need to blow into a tube, you just have to blow it toward this and the fans can suck up the smoke pretty efficiently. An added bonus with this is that it'll also catch the extra whisps of smoke that come out of a bowl/cigarette while your not hitting which minimizes smell further.

  10. I usually just blow it under my roommates door.
but honestly fork up 40 dollars and buy a box fan and fit a hose to it. run that shit outside.

It's not about masking the smell its about relocating it.

  11. i know mane ive been smokin forever i jjust mean 1 thin sheet of that doesnt seem like it would not smell like the reefer, then again you could put it by a window sooo :smoke:

  12. There are actually 4. 3 inside the case one on the outside.

  13. Sounds like a great way to create probable cause.

  14. Smell alone is not probable cause. An officer would have to see you smoking from paraphernalia in order to bother you on your own property.

  15. look up active carbon.... Infact look at the grow section on here for filters they are using, plenty of DIY solutions.

Dryer sheet works, but only by covering up the smell. The carbon will help absorb the smell and will work much better. You can probably adapt it onto this.

  16. That seems very interesting can you buy carbon filters or can you only buy it in powder form? I think it'd be annoying since I have a fan and it'd blow it everywhere. Do you know of any other forms it come in and can you get it from like lowes or walmart or something, it definitely sounds like a better idea than dryer sheets.

  17. put it in between the dryer sheets

its not powder its more little pebbles.

i think, correct if i wrong ive never seen it

  18. Only carbon filters I have messed with were in an industrial AC unit, and the carbon pieces were about 1/8th in in dia and maybe 1/4 in long... so yeah not fine dust.

You can also buy pre-assbled units but they are significantly more expensive. They also have active carbon cloth or whatever, where its a fuzzy screen looking thing.

Again, go to the cultivation section, then look in the grow room subforums... I think the DIY one actually... They have a thread dedicated to DIY carbon filters/scrubbers (fancy word for filter). If that shit will take care of a flowering plant it will do some wisps of smoke :hello:

Most people use some kinda metallic mesh cups (pencil holders are popular), and wrap them in panty hose to help keep in the finer particles.
