So I only started smoking in the last few months, and for a while it never occurred to me to make a cone, because for a while i was using a home made gravity bong with a tin foil bowl, after deciding the gravity bong was too difficult to use discretely and hide the pieces (still living with parents) and i heard inhaling tin foil is bad for your lungs. so i fashioned this with some copper pipe, a screen from an old tap/faucet, and some copper fittings from an old heat pump i used various tools of my dads that he uses for installing heat pumps to curve the pipe, cut it to size and the flare the end like this: i then put the screen over the end with a nut to hold it there, which is where i screwed on a bolt of some sort which formed a bowl and here is the finished product with a plastic cap with a hole in it for a nozzle, and some electrical tape to insulate it from the heat it works really well for small hits, and keeping discreet, it tastes a bit weird, but that's probably the lubricant i put on the nut, or my lighter i apologize for the photos and all the scuff marks, dents and other blemishes on the cone itself i just wanted to share my handiwork with someone other than the small amount of my friends that i toke with, thanks
i know your proud of it and all, and i gotta say, you put in some nice work on that. But.... the materials your smoking our of really arnt the safest, especialy up against things like glass, or even a storebaught metal bowl. fuck copper.
Like others have mentioned, this is not really safe or ideal (neither is foil, by the way... much lower melting point than the average bic, and oral toxicity for aluminum with an open-ended digestive system is nothing, compared to the long-term effects of inhalation). Look at it this way... if you can afford your stash, you can easily afford a $5 glass or stone pipe, or a $15 glass bong or bubbler to use it with!
i'd never heard that copper is unsafe, that's a shame, oh well, i guess i'll get one of the cones at the pawn shop i've been eyeing up. thanks
