High-end Homemade Bong

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by Zilfana, Jun 29, 2011.

  1. I would like to start that this is in no way a comparison to glass. If you are a "glass only" kind of person, just please kindly don't comment. This is meant to be a high-end "homemade" bong, and is understandably inferior to glass, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good solid piece.

So, the final version of my homemade piece is done, and it works very well. Almost all the problems I've had with the others have been fixed. All the water leaking problems have been fixed. The outside is sealed with waterproof clear caulk, the stem is high enough that it won't spill and the carb hole has a cover that you can see, to keep from water splashing out of it. It even has a nice rubber mouthpiece.

The only problem is that the drag is very high due to the size of the whole through the brass piece of the downstem. It is big enough to suck in plenty of smoke for a hit, but difficult to actually get that smoke cleared. So I added another rod to the second part (through the percolator) so now when you take the hit, the drag is low enough that the bottom fills with smoke. Then, when you remove your finger from the carb hole, there flow is very high and it pulls all the smoke from the bottom up through the top.

Let me know what ya think!

  2. That's pretty sick brah! :bongin:

  3. Thanks man. The only thing I don't like about the pictures is that they make it look really dirty. It really looks a lot cleaner. Plus, that blue shit around the brass looks like normal white in real life.

  4. Looks pretty cool, but I have a few suggestions.
That plastic guard around the carb should make it kinda hard to fully clear out the bottom of the piece, if you poked a few holes close to the water level by the carb it should help out a bit. Also if you use a somewhat bigger stem it should help greatly with the drag. Otherwise its a cool homemade piece.

  5. It actually has plenty of airflow from that little whole, although I could get a larger grommet and make a larger hole. The next largest grommet is big enough to easily fit a pencil. And although the stem could be bigger, it works really well the way it is. Maybe it's not drag i'm thinking of. Anyway, it fills up the bottom with ALOT of smoke, and then when you let go and take the hit it's huge and all at once.

  6. I could fiddle with it more, but it works very well just the way it is:smoke:

  7. Milk video

  8. I wanna see too.

  9. I wonder if you can make a homemade SYN style showercap by cutting slits in a plastic cup.

    Nice homemade doe :D

  10. You could but it would look like shit. We should have like a build off for the best homemade bong. No glass allowed.

    I Like
Question though, How did you position the downstem into the body knowing its completely secure and airproof?

  12. I've seen that bong on here twice before... like months ago.

  13. If you look at the posting date, This thread was posted in like August i think.

  14. I can't really do a milk video, or at least not on in it's current state. I've had to gut out the perc. The caulk I used got all nasty, I don't think it dried enough.

I am actually thinking of making a new one, since the money I had planned to purchase a nice glass bone with I instead used to fund a small grow op for my own personal consumption. This bong, in truth, is too big. It just takes so much lung power to draw in all the smoke. At first I had blamed this on air flow.

One small note is that you can actually unclasp the cookie jar and crack it open just a little, and quickly suck all the smoke up. You couldn't really do that when the perc was in it, it would leak water everywhere.

I don't quite understand the question? Are you asking me how did I make it airproof? I guess I'll just start from the beginning. I actually melted the plastic, after cutting a hole just smaller than the brass piece, and with a little skill "shifted" the plastic so that it would have the angle I wanted when inserted. Then when it was still kind of melty, I screwed the brass piece in, which kind of made it form to the shape of the threading. Then I just caulked it up and presto. The downstem is also not one solid piece. It

Also, in contact with the brass, the caulk turned funky and green and never truly dried. I have recently gutted it out and redid it entirely in hot glue.

I have actually made a much superior bowl then what is in the picture. I just looked at it and didn't even remember ever using that bowl :D

  15. Yes, I am making a new bong, and it will be much superior to even this one.

  16. Start posting updates.

  17. Nice i did the marbles in my homemade one too

  19. 'are you filming yourself?' LOL.

But, nice one man. Decent, re-usable homemade bongs are always fun because they can just look so wacky an awsome. Is that an aluminium foil bowl? If so, try and get something a little safer, even if it is just a coke can bowl piece.

    Peace out.
