Help raising humidity in my mason jars

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by Casey59, Oct 16, 2021.

  1. So I have 4 mason jars with my harvest an the humidity is sitting at 48% on the meters how can I increase it? Seems really low compared to around 62% it’s suppose to be at

That's too low once cannabis reaches 55% it starts breaking down. Once put into jars humidity should be fine 60 to 65% for up to 2 weeks time varies before a humidity pack is needed to keep humidity correct.

For half gallon Mason jars the larger 4 packs will work for smaller jars the 8 gram squares will work

Best dry I can muster thus far is in a tent with a small 4in to 6in fan set on low blowing down and away from buds. Inline fan on its lowest setting, a humidifier plugged into a ink bird set at 62%. Where I live has a low RH so I'll also run a second humidifier in the room outside the tent. I also have my window blacked out keeping the room cooler. That'll give me anywhere from 7 to 11 days so far.

Last 2 autos from my previous run finishing up. If when I check on them my tents at 70% I'll cut the outside humidifier off for several hours.

  3. Cannabis dried below 55% has all it's biological activity stopped and it's done. No cure possible. Re-hydrating just keeps it from crumbling now. It won't change the taste profile.

Slow dry over 7 to 10 days never letting the buds get to dry to fast is the key to correctly dried Cannabis.
Like cooking a steak you wanted medium rare but now have very well done.
You can no more un-dry that cannabis then you can un-cook meat.

Just one chance to get the dry right. No do overs. You can put a pencil sized twist of tap water wet paper towel in the jar for a couple of hours to soften the buds.

Hang till limp popcorn firms up.
Remove from branches and chop into golf ball and smaller nugs.

Place buds in cut down paper bags.

    Place in closed container overnight.
Remove and lay out for the day stirring a few times
Leave out till the buds firm back up.
    Place in container over night.

Repeat with less time out as the days pass. At the end of 7 to 10 days you should be at the perfect 62-65 % when the can is opened the last morning.
With some experience you can do it all by feel. Limp it needs to dry more. Firm it needs more can time. When it stops going limp overnight it's perfectly dry and can now be placed in Jars with no need for burping.
