Alright, so I've been researching on this site and other for weeks on the best ways to get frozen (stuck) glass on glass joints unstuck.. I have had a 18.8 to 14.4 gauge adapter (lets me use the smaller bowls on my 18g bong) stuck in my downstem for almost a month now. Ive completely cleaned the bong including the downstem probably 4 seperate times now, using isopropyl, 420 cleaner, AND grunge off.. the adapter is still stuck. I tried tapping around the edges with a pencil for about an hour, that didnt work, then upgraded to a wooden spoon, also didnt work, then to a screwdriver. didnt work. I also tried running it under hot water, and while i did see water seep into the joint, i still couldnt get the adapter out.

Now i normally wouldnt care because all of my bowls are 14.4, but i have this great 18.8 RooR Carbon Filter that i cant even use because of the stuck adapter.. please help!

i included a picture for those of you still confused by what im talking about haha

  2. Thats how every single one of my stems broke. Be careful and twist it out, Its water getting trapped in between the glass making in extremely difficult to get out, i hate it.

  3. i take two dishtowels and 'unscrew' it kinda

  4. hm i was told twisting is the worst thing you can do to a glass on glass joint, so i've been avoiding it. but im trying the dishtowels anyways, no luck so far.

  5. Man I have had the same proplem my downstem has been stuck in my bong for a month now and I'm to afraid to take it out and have the joint brake. This is definatly the biggest flaw of glass on glass

  6. sounds like you guys need to take your stems out more and not let them get that dirty. take a pipe cleaner to your downstem after every couple sessions. i usually do it like 20 times a day haha. keep it clean.

  7. you know im not sure how safe it would be to smoke out of afterwards, unless you cleaned the fuck out of it, but try some penetrating oil. cus that type of oil is, obviously, meant to penetrate in between two objects in order to cause them to seperate.

  8. I know what your saying but I kept mine pretty clean and it's like not Rez lock it's like water lock

  9. i clean my piece about once a week, i let my friend borrow it for one night and he got it stuck somehow.
If i could just get it out, i could use my carbon filter and then there wouldnt be any resin in my piece at all.

What exactly is 'penetrating oil' and where can i get my hands on some? im sure a little isopropyl afterwards would remove any toxic badness

  10. its basically the best oil ever. theres tons of different kinds, you could even try using lock-ease. you can get it at damn near any store, automotive, hardware stores, walmart.. kmart, maybe even 7/11.

  11. Soak it in simple green for a few days?

  12. Thats my advice. Super hot water(boiling if possible) first, then soak it for a day or 2 in SG or 90 iso alcohol. It will come apart.

  13. Put some vaseline on the GonG joints next time. ;)

  14. soak it dude. maybe even dishsoap, its got degreasing agents. just try soaking it for a while in different shit.

  15. Maybe it's just me, but it certainly doesn't look like that thing has been cleaned once a week. You should clean it more often.

  16. as a matter of fact its been about 5 days. I use my piece a lot. haha
normally i have a carbon filter on there though, which keeps my piece completely clean for about 2-3 weeks before even a tiny amount of resin builds up (provided i switch up the carbon every couple of days)

i tried soaking it in 72 isopropyl, but ill try 92 and simple green as well. will update

  17. I have the same problem brother, mines been stuck for like 3 months i'm going to try all this shit ill post what works if i ever get it apart

  18. I tired everything suggested here to no avail. (Downstem has been stuck for a couple weeks now.) After tryng the iso everything was nice clean. Rinsed it out and the downstem was still pretty water locked and not moving at all.

I finally took my torch (I prefer this to a regular lighter with my bong. I recommed it, but to each their own) to the joint and the seams to fully dry everything out, let it cool down for 5+ minutes, lightly tapped the top of the downstem with the rubber side of my directv controller a couple of times and it came right out.

    Hope this helps someone out...

    Peace
