The red ones are catlinite. It's only the second time I've gotten to work with that stone - they're sealed with beeswax, and when they're warm they smell like honey. Yes, one does have two bowls, and each pipe except for the duck man chillum has a carb. These are pieces commissioned by a friend of mine. he asked for 5, but I made the double bowl one in a flash and gave him the option to swap another one out to keep his total the same.

The biggest one is made of steatite, and all the rest are varying shades of soapstone.

It's hard work, but fun as hell. Plus, it's a creative outlet. I'll keep updating this thread as I make more. Trying to break my first $1000 is a bit tougher than I thought :p

There's a large initial investment for tools, and yes you will wear out or break ones you use over time. The raw stone is rather cheap, though. And the effort you can put into one of these items makes a high quality, high function conversation piece to whip out around friends.
