If you bought a grinder online, and it arrived with this reddish-brown chip/mark on the finish shown in the photo, would you bother with returning it? The grinder is a RAW Stainless Steel Shredder 4 piece. I'm inclined to think I should expect it to be perfect considering the price (iirc it was around $90 bought new), but just wanted to see what you guys think. Wonder what that mark is? The brownish color makes me think maybe its rust or something.. ?
They had me mail the old one back to exchange, then sent me a replacement. Replacement is perfect & shiny.
If the grinder is aluminum then the finish is oxidizes. Oxidizing and reducing agents | Redox reactions and electrochemistry | Chemistry | Khan Academy - YouTube
The photo you posted didn't look oxidized. is anything it looked powder coated . SS ? why oxidize or powder coat it ? It looks fine without
Yes it is stainless steel. This is my grinder: https://rawthentic.com/prawducts/smoking-gear/grinders-shredders/raw-stainless-steel-shredder/ The photo doesn't do it justice. It looks a lot more shiny than that IRL.
If you've paid $90 for a new grinder, I'd expect it to be in perfect condition. That mark looks unusual, and the brownish color does raise concerns about potential rust. I'd consider reaching out to the seller or considering a return. Better safe than sorry!
