I got a banger for Christmas, and now I'm hoping I can use it for dabbing without buying anything else except for maybe a torch. With the banger, I got a little torch lighter. It has a pretty small flame, and doesn't really look like the torches anyone is using in videos I've seen. I'm smoking shatter, if that matters here. In the past it was a waxy concentrate that was either kind of crumbly or smashed between a piece of cooking paper of some kind. After following a youtube video I heated up my banger until it was sort of glowy and red and then put some shatter in the bucket part with my dabbing tool, counted down like the guy said to let it cool a little and then ripped my bong like normal. To be clear, there was water in my bong while trying to do this. There wasn't a very large amount of smoke. I tried about five times with the smallest peices of shatter I had, and some of them made more smoke than others but it was more like vapor than the 'clouds' I am used to. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could be doing wrong here? I'm thinking it's the torch but honestly I'm too new to this to really know! Any advice is appreciated.
Sounds like its not getting hot enough. You might be able to cold start though. Load the wax in, and just hit the banger with the torch and inhale when you start seeing vapors rise. Def grab a new torch. Big green propane ftw.
Thanks, that makes sense! My dad's got one of those kinds of torches, but we can't find it anywhere. My mom has a tiny little hobby torch somewhere, like the cheap $14 ones from headshops. Wo Does cold start work with shatter too?
Yes. Cold starting is putting the material in the banger, heating it till it’s bubbling, then hitting it. Just curious, is there a carb cap or ball cap that came with it also?
Yes but it broke already! I didn't get the chance to use it. Is there anything I can use that's safe until I can replace it? And for when I do replace it, is there a certain kind I should look for?
You can use anything that won't melt for the time being. Look for a bubble cap, directional airflow cap. Not sure what shape banger but if you start looking into nicer ones. Make sure they'll fit.. For instance. If it says fits 25mm banger. Make sure the opening of yours is 25mm not the outside. I've got some 4mm thick bangers and 2mm is what's messing me up for a couple inserts. Lol. And you don't have to be red hot. Timer on your phone or a dab timer from Google play works fine. Just have to do the work to figure out the best temp for you. I shoot for 500°f or so but have a ir thermometer on hand. If timing. Try 40 heat 30 cool or so as a starting point. A lot of people like low temp or cold start. I like to see a little cloud over maximum flavor. More heat= more cloud less flavor. Lower temp = more flavor and less possibility of burning product. Sent from my LM-Q730 using Tapatalk
