I used a glass voss bottle and glass pickle jar and made a small relatively portable glass gravity bong. not the prettiest thing in the world I put duct tape on the inside of the broken off voss bottle bottom to turn it into an ashtray/cashpad. Yes, I used a socket for the bowl but thats only a temporary fix until grasscity sends me my bong and extra bowls I ordered. If anybody wants a tutorial with pictures or a simple explanation on how I made it just comment and I'll put it up. Happy smoking.
If you attach a cylinder to the bottom of the bowl you can filter the smoke through the water, and make it more bongish
You now how the water level in your bottle is near the top of the bottle. With the cylinder (in my case a pen tube) the smoke has a channel to travel below the water level and be released out of the tube in the water. Thus filter your smoke through water.
Oh, by cylinder you meant tube/downstem thats where I got confused. I'll try and do that soon, bud does the cylinder ever push water into your bowl when your pushing it back down?

I don't push it back down to take the hit. Once all the water is out I unscrew the bowl then hit it.

If you wanna go the extra mile you can heat up a safety pin and poke holes around the bottom of plastic tube and BAM! you got some diffusion
