Ok so i am really anal about my glass. I clean mt wicked sands tiny like every day change water frequently but i really think the water where i live is causing me these problems. For some reason the glass starts to fog up after use and water starts collecting on the inside of the glass its weird. has anyone else had this problem? If so any help would be appreciated. i have tried using bottled water but it just doesnt seem to help
I really wish I knew what causes tubes to do this. I've seen it irl and I've seen it here a bunch. Maybe it's the temperaure and humidity in your house?
This happens to my ZOB 8 arm inside the perc chamber, but not in my EHLE straight tube. I'm guessing it has something to do with the glass, not the water/ environment.
You are correct OP, it's probably the water. Here is alittle excerpt from roor.de websight, in there tips and tricks section. "Usually the lime content in our tap water is very high. This is why over time lime deposits gather on the glass surface. This leads to the glass becoming dull, as well as to increase dirt particles gathering on this dulled surface." You need to use something like CLR, to get rid of the lime build-up. it seems they reccomend against using a brush, but i use 420 cleaner and a brush for washing drinking glasses, so a nice soft brush will do the trick...
Think it has to do with humidity inside the house and effects pieces that usually have 2 perc Chambers. The bottom one with low air flow usually gets the fog inside the glass. I hadn't turn the air on yet going into summer and house was a little hot for a few days. I noticed it on my glass. I turned on the air and as soon as the temperature went down the bong cleared up
10 year old thread but it's just minerals left over in the water. Google "hard water". It's not an issue health wise from what I know, it's mostly just annoying.
It's not mineral build up in the water. I have the same thing happen but only to a few of my glass pieces. The cheaper ones mostly. I use distilled water to rinse now but it seems to do the same thing. Once the water dries up and takes forever, it forms condensation which then dries and causes a film to form on the glass.
It comes down to the piece mostly. Some fog up more than others. My beaker never fogs up. The straight tube I had with perks did straight away.
If you have used bottle water then its not the water. Something else is the issue . Does same thing happen if you use another bong and does same thing happen under the same circumstances
The op would had to been storing the bong in the fridge or freezer. Condensation only happens at certain temp and certain humidity. Or the water had to be ice cold that was in the bong. Condensation - Wikipedia
What happens with mine is after I wash and rinse it condensation forms and when it dries up it causes stains on the bong. I only have this problem with one of my bongs. A cheaper made China import.
Condensation on the outside of the glass ? I screwed up one year and sealed my roof mounted swamp cooler . I am a DWC in my house grower. I am using up to 60 to 80 gallons per day on my home . The humidity in my house was 60 to 70% humidity .in the winter with freezing weather . The inside my home was hot and humid , every water pipe, every window dripped with condensation . The inside of the windows had ice sickles on them . Not know what the issue was I bought a big dehumidifier. then when I went to fire up the swamp cooler the pan was full of water from condensation . Now I don't shrink wrap the cooler . just tarp it.
No on the inside of the bong. It takes days and days for the water to dry and it just seems to form condensation while sitting out, or if I put it in the closet. The inside of the bong and the outside should be the same temperature so I have no idea why it's doing this. It's just one of my bongs and it happens to be a cheapo China import.
