it came with the stem. it's just a piece of rubber that fits snugly around the stem and then has a lip to make sure it doesn't slip inside the actual bong. you can get them at headshops, i'm sure. if not, i'd check out homedepot or something.
looks great to me! the only one little small critique i have is that you might have wanted to angle it down more so you dont have to fill it half full with water, but then again it will work fine either way. edit - just realized other people have suggested this as well.
I must have made like over 10 glass homemades..but my "first try" definitely didn't look as good as yours..bravo .
last night my connection dropped through so i was left with a bong and nothing to smoke out of it. i tried angling the stem down a little more by making the hole longer and it did break the airtight seal at first, but two layers of electrical tape around the grommet fixed that right up and the angle is better so the stem reaches lower. edit: also, thanks to everyone for the comments. if my current weed situation ever improves i'll post some pictures of the bong doing its thing.

im actually sorta impressed. looks clean, healthy and GonG...the clear was a little airy thou. keep it clean!!!!!! (iso and salt)
