if epoxy isn't working for you, go to Lowes or Home Depot and find "Liquid Nails". It takes a few hours for it to set up and excess cleans off glass nicely after it has dried. LIQUID NAILS® Clear Seal All-Purpose Sealant: A Waterproof Sealant
^dont listen to that please, it may be waterproof but it is NOT designed for heat-exposed applications, and i wouldnt trust it anywhere near anything that may possibly get exposed to smoke, flame or other smoking heat source, such as a hot knife that gets dropped or a magnifying glass that gets aimed in the wrong spot, just not a good idea
i do agree that its not smart to use this in direct contact with a flame, but if you look at the FAQ it states "Once a product has cured, the solvents have dissipated. It is the solvents that are flammable/toxic". However, do as you want with your project. If i start dying from cancer or pneumonia, I'll let you know. But seriously? a magnifying glass?
^those things arent noob friendly man, easy to hold it in the wrong spot if oyu get distracted... alright yeah that was retarded to say lol i just wouldn't trust it anywhere that gets warm in anyway man, call me paranoid but i get exposed to enough toxins in everyday life so i'd prefer to avoid what i can ya know?
I can totally respect that man. The reason i used this on mine in the first place was because i couldnt get a good angle with a rubber grommet for the down stem. After looking back at Scoobii2013's glass, that could be a better option, as all you need to do is drill the right size hole for it to fit into and hold the stem. make sure to wet the glass before you put it in there or you may break it and cut yourself. Anyway oceansgreen, you do seem to be pretty knowledgeable in this area and ill definitely shoot ya a message if i have a build related question. Always feel free to bounce ideas off me as well =]
I used electrical tape since I live no where near a Lowes or Home Depot. I wrapped it half way up the downstem then I put the downstem in the hole and then I wrapped tape around it again and the actual glass to make it water tight. It doesn't leak water or anything it works pretty great. I would take a picture for you guys but my camera doesn't work
