I used to smoke a lot back in the 80s and 90s. My "grinder" back then? My fingers. I used to enjoy the process actually. However the sticky buds of today aren't like the brick weed I'd break apart and separate the seeds from back then so I'm thinking about a grinder. I'd love some recommendations/favorites and why you like your "go-to" grinder. Thanks.
Everyone usually says the Gold Standard is Space Case. I liked the Cosmic Grinder better, but haven't looked for one in years, so I don't know if they're still around. To be honest, I just have a cheap metal grinder from Ebay now. It works fine for me.
The large Brilliant Cut Grinder. I don't like the small threaded two inch grinders. This is a non threaded 2.7 inch grinder which is held together with magnets.
Had a titanium grinder with keif screen, i found screen clogged often. i opt for good pair of trim scissors, the curved ones. imo grinder mash up a good amount of trichs. personal choice ....Peace
I've had this one for about 3 years now and have no complaints. It's a KOZO. About $20.00 on amazon. If you're looking for something cheap the GC headshop has a plastic one on sale for $1.99. I just purchased 5 of them to give away as partial Christmas gifts.
I get the nostalgia, but grinders are a game-changer now! I swear by my Santa Cruz Shredder. It's sturdy, grinds like a champ, and easy to clean.
Go big or go home! A kozo here too but all will eventually get gummy & harder to turn especially when you overload the crap out of them.
I'm a grunge off man, & it's overdue. 2 3/4" kozo used hard for 3 years & never deep cleaned, sticky af.
I wanted stainless steel so I decided to splurge and buy a small "factory seconds" iaso 4 piece grinder.
YES ,YES AND YES! Todays weed is so much stickier (when done right) Your fingers would be stuck together, But it still is a nice way to break up larger volumes (since growing my own). I did the scissors thing for years but as the weed got better you were always cleaning the scissors. Now I wear gloves, or use a grinder for daily smoking.
I'm curious why you went with Stainless steel. I don't think our bud would ever wear the aluminum grinder out. I don't even think our bud would take the sharp edges off the cutters. At least I've never noticed it, even with the cheap plastic cutters. And, SS weighs a lot more.
Just a personal preference. I'm a fan of steel and a bit of a "metal" geek in general. I know some people shy away from aluminum to avoid potential for ingesting any aluminum but personally I don't see how that could be any real threat when talking about an herb grinder.
I think we have more to be concerned about from using aluminum based antiperspirants. I've been using the same aluminum grinder for about 3 years now and the green anodized finish is still on all the cutters. I don't see anything wrong with stainless steel grinders other than the weight if you're carrying it around with you. This brand makes a nice one. https://odingrinders.com/
I went from the SC to brilliant cut My hands give me trouble some times and I began to grind by putting the grinder on the counter and using my weight to help crush and turn the flower Was putting a lot of stress on the little piece of plastic that lines the cap to keep it from being metal on metal while grinding The metal shavings and coloring/labeling coming off seems to be cheaper grinders There is another maker called Old Mate Designs https://oldmatedesigns.com/ I'm waiting on the reviews The cap looks like it would be very friendly to painful hands Metal shavings, dust and debris are an issue that has to be addressed by the industry The SC served me well but screwing and unscrewing the cap, especially after some build up, could be quite painful The brilliant cut with its magnets is much better
Dude, I feel you on the nostalgia, but grinders are a game-changer. I've been using a SharpStone for a while. Super sturdy, gets the job done, and easy to clean!
