haha my friends and i have a sorta tiny business going making bongs out of bamboo, weve made a 5.5 foot one that cleared in 3 hits minimum, a 2 foot one with an ash catcher/ice stopper and lotsa 2/3 foot ones and littler 1 foot ones that we sell to people. we got like a wood burner so we can put designs on them and shit and we sand them down real nice. everybody that hits them loves them and the ash catcher one is incredibly smooth. we just build them in his basement right off my college campus. the bowl pieces we make out of pipe fittings and put screens in them and they make real nice sliders, cheap too cuz their easy to steal

yea thats what we do, just make the downstem out of bamboo too and wood glue it in place, sometimes we use clay as the seal. then fit the inside to the sliders
I agree with the glass bit part. If you have a drill (any ME major worth his salt should) this is probably the sweetest investment ever. I haven't been smoking much lately, but I love toolwork and handiwork. I'm thinking of making an Xmas present for a friend using a rubber grommet slide and any glass container to make a bong. I've been going to stores like Ross and Target on shopping trips, and any time I pass the decor aisles I always just stare at all the vases and bottles they have, thinking, "That would make a SICK bong," "It'd take a pro to clear that one," "That could hold ICE!," or "That opening would be the perfect mouthpiece." Seriously - if you're the kind of person making your own bongs with drills, either: 1) use old 5ths of liquor, especially tequila and vodka. They tend to come in fancier bottles these days: Hendrix-branded vodka? Someone's grandson is getting paid.... If course, Bong Vodka This one below has an earthy vibe to it: 1800 Tequila is offering specially-designed bottles from young artists, this would make a sick addition to a collection: 2) Go with the vases you can buy for $10 at Wal-Mart or Ross: Think of the possibilities!
One of my favorite pass-times is high innovation. I've made a 2-chamber bong out of an Aunt Jemima bottle and a 3-chamber bong out of Gatorade bottles.
i have made somewhere around 30 bongs and pipes and bubblers ect... in my 2 years of smoking, the ones i have now are an elevator bong made out of a trader joes tingly tree shampoo bottle and a seasoning bottle its pretty big i had an ashcatcher but it defeated the whole purpose of the elevator so i took it off, then i have one that is made out of a vase that looks like a huricane bong, then a patron 5th bottle, made a chapagne bong a few weeks ago and it ht hard as fuck but super smooth for the size.....i have a small mini bong made out of an old metal tube with metal bowl attached (i make my metal bowls out of sheet metal for all my peices takes about 1 hr but its worth it, then i have a diffused single perc ice catcher (needs reparation) its about 3 feel tall, ill post some pics in a different thread........thats my experience wth homemade, im going to pick up some glass soon though cuz im getting tired of poor cardio as i am a runner, im running a 36 miler in may, ran a 20 miler last may, kind of odd, anyways, soory for writting so much im baked peace

Very creative. I have made some out of control home mades, check into the Grasscity Annual Bong Making Competition thread. I won the very first comp. I sent the Bong to the Blade who started the thread, I like to make mine from glass though. I have used liquor bottles and vases, I have made one out of a deer antler. That is a funny story, I went to see the rents in Indy and my Moms pipes are always clogged , and nasty so I went to the smoke stop and got a small glass piece, then dropped it right when I got it home. Sucked!! So then I am like what the hell I am not trying to smoke joints (which is all my Mom smokes) just then I noticed a deer antler in this plant potter by her porch, I sked if I couild have it. She said sure, I took that bitch into Pops shop and drilled the bowl and the channel for pulling, I thought man thats not bad at all. I showed it to my Mom and My Aunt who were both toking a J, and my aunt was like hey it would be great if you placed the carb right here, Now I was not even going to carb it but after she showed me that setup she was thinking about I had to do it. and it worked great, the bowl was just right for a screen and the pull was smooth and the carb worked just like glass. Crazy, But I love making em too, and keep up the good work, you will be amazed how many things can be converted. JOE>
I've never used tin foil.... I'd rather not smoke than use tin foil. Nice piece by the way man but yeah glass is always the way to go obviously if money isn't an issue.
