I'll be graduating with a MS in mechanical engineering pretty soon, too soon if you ask me. College is too much fun--stay in school kids. Any ways, I've been making homemade pieces since the very first time I smoked. It was a ratchet (like on the end of a wrench) as the bowl scotch taped on to the short side of a bendy straw. The first time I got caught was from mom finding an empty clorox towels bottle with weird holes and ash inside of it. That first picture is a bong I made at the end of freshman year of college: Vanity Bong. That is a mirror on it so you can see yourself take a hit and see how big the hit is. It was a decent bong. I grew tired of it and got some glass pieces throughout sophomore year, but this year I decided it was time for some more bongin'. I recreated Vanity, so it now is way upgraded. New features include double filtration technology, completely stable (won't tip like ever), has a huge chamber, clears better, slide instead of carb, and makes a cool noise when you hit it. The secret to homemade pieces, if you are in the mood for something nice instead of something quick and shitty, is to take your time and have the right materials. I went through our recycling and found some old Air Borne containers that I had used a while ago and some gatoraide bottles, a milk carton, and a coors can. With some good glue and duct tape, this baby was born. The mirror is still included because people always love it. So here's what an engineering degree will get a pot head: the Vanity Bong I the Upgrade the view from hitting position the engineering books I couldn't get rid of When you take a hit, the inner Air Borne container clangs against the bottom of the coors can inside the top chamber. It sounds pretty cool.
thats awesome dude, i love making my own peices, ive made a few bongs out of gaterade bottles, just makeshift ones though, nothing to hold on to, but i did make a sobe waterfall bong using a guide, not original but it hits like a bitch
I'm a freshman ECE and I have that exact same calc book..... I bet i know where you go to school that's pretty friggin cool man. my boys upstairs made a double chamber out of a gallon-size arizona iced tea bottle and a 20 oz mountain dew... its was a three hit clear...
yea that's a handy book, I still use it today for random shit like taylor series and law of cosines and derivative of sinh/cosh, you know stuff you always forget.
ahh yes, nice work. i made something similar like that at school last semester. i too have the same calc book. its one of the best ones ive ever owned. i still use it today for some review stuff when im rusty on my math.
No offense, but hitting anything made out of the contents of a recycle bin sounds GROSS! You guys need to stick to super dank on a regular basis, and then you'll feel guilty for treating it that way. Pot + plastic/acrylic = fail.
I had fun making it and no one complains about it, most people love it. Sure glass would be a better hit, note the bowl itself is glass, but it would also be 100-400 dollars more expensive. just sayin...
Yeah, there's always the pricepoint. I can't argue with that, but it's like once you start your own glass collection you get hooked! I'm not trying to knock your creativity by the way man. That is some tricky looking shit up there...
not if your first glass breaks in less than 20mins and cost you loads. acrylic bongs are amazing most have lift of caps so you can play aroud with glass bowls n stuff now. i dont like that homemade peice simply cos its made out of bottles, now most of us have bin though fases of doing this and i atleast have come out the other end with my new acrylic bong in hand witch was cheap as chips and its never gonna break.
haha i hardly consider that an engineering feat. back in my freshman year in high school id make the sickest bongs out of a water bottle, pen tube, and tin foil. yes.. i know.. we all hate tin foil but we've all used it at some point!!!
pure artwork, its a art to be able to make a great piece, ive been smoking for about 1 year and im still pritty bad at it. i want my damn grasscity bong to come!
Congrats my man! ME is no bull shit. I graduated a few years ago with a BSCE. Engineers are the true masters of the universe. The early Christians and Romans thought god was an "engineer". But any way keep smoking out of plastic and you will be brain dead in a few short years. Go glass only my friend. No chrome metal, plastics, or god forbid epoxy. They all vaporise... into your lungs! Glass is safe, so are some other materials, but stick with glass.
I've smoked out of a bong made of bamboo. If you're interested in carving something up yourself, that's the way to go right there. It's pretty incredible if you do a good job making it, and it can be as big as you want!
amen to that i still like making homemades, though, even if they are obviously inferior, they look crazy and change things up. i made this on sunday
Dude! i wish i had pictures of this bong i made out of 5 or 6 propel bottles stacked up high, that shit was fucking insaine, and cheap
not to bash on you or anything man, but i would consider that to be the lower end of the home made peices. everyone always trys to make badass home made shit and they always forget the most important thing COMMON SENSE. sure i could stack a bunch of stuff up and duct tape it toghether, and people would think it was badass or i could go to the hardware store, buy a glass bit for like 10 bucks and make one out of an empty 5th, or a vase and it would blow people minds, and it would hit far better, and more imortantly it wont melt. it dosnt take hardly any effort to make a grommet bong
yo ik this may sound just like the other guy with the 6 propell bottles but in freshman year of high school like 5 years ago i made this kick ass bong out of a 1 leater seltzer bottle with a coke can for an ash catcher/ precooler whatever you call it it was sooo badass but the only reason i still remember it is because it took me like 5 hours to make and then like another 4 to put the precooler on itbut in the end it was awesome!!!!
A few of my friends actually made one out of a light saber, it was still able to light up and everything so that pretty killer i wish i had a picture of that thing. i make alot of pieces out of copper pipes, they are pretty easy to make and are pretty damn durable i just always end up reandomly selling them at shows... just last night we made a two hitter out of some pvc pipes. I saw the honey bear one online and we decided to make our own, it wasnt a bad piece.
