I've seen tons of people asking whether or not e-cigarettes are usable with weed, and how they would make it happen. I decided to risk some green to find out, and I need to share this info with you before you kill your equipment. What I did, and the mistakes I made: What I Did. This was a few months ago, so exact details (measurements and such) will not be included. This is not important. I started out with vodka and maybe an eighth of mids(I wasn't financially able to risk more). I made decent quality hash oil with this, but apparently I didn't filter the liquid enough, as there was still plant matter in my oil (this isn't really a huge deal when you make oil, except for potency, however ANY amount of plant matter in your oil will kill your atomizers). I then mixed my oil with propylene glycol (MUST be medical grade), adding and mixing the PG drop by drop until the oil was completely dissolved. I also added a tiny bit of glycerin (also MUST be medical quality) for increased vapor quantity and some blueberry Tastee Puffs drops for flavor. I used my special liquid in a 901 pen-style e-cig (with both battery and USB passthrough). Each atomizer I used with the liquid died within a couple of days, leading me to the conclusion that the liquid was at fault. However, the liquid DID definitely get me stoned when my e-cig was still working. Mistakes I Made 1.Using vodka. Vodka isn't high enough in alcohol to extract THC as efficiently as one would like. I would recommend either 91% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol or everclear. If you're sketched out by rubbing alcohol, and everclear isn't available in your area, use the highest proof alcohol available. It'll all work, but the stronger the alcohol is, the higher the THC extraction efficiency will be. Also, higher proof means less time and effort in the evaporation process. 2. Not filtering the alcohol/THC solution well enough. I recommend filtering your solution via cheesecloth at least 3-5 times for maximum purity. If there is any of the plant left in your oil, it will clog your atomizers. 3. Using the e-cig I used. You need a GOOD e-cig. None of the commercially available (off the shelf / internet store) ones are going to heat well enough or produce enough vapor for you to easily get strong effects, except for maybe the DSE-601 E-pipe. The reason for this is power. The cigarette or pen-styled e-cigs use small heating elements and batteries. What you need is a high-powered e-cig mod, like the AdapteveR. I would go so far as to say that you need the 6v one, the smaller one just doesn't compare in terms of vapor production. So basically, super-filter your hash oil so that it's super-pure, and buy a really good e-cig mod or you're gonna ruin your shit and have a bunch of THC-PG sitting there doing nothing.
One more thing: use a button-operated e-cig, you get alot more vapor/heatup time. Plus, the inhalation-operated ones have alot of problems that the button ones don't.
I have been looking for where I can buy an e cig in Toronto. Where did you get yours because I don't want to order one off the internet. Useing it with oil is a great idea and i wish i had one.
So far as I know, the internet's the only way to get a good one, unfortunately. The ones you can get at the mall and stuff are crap. Cheaply made, and from what I've heard the liquid that those people sell tastes like it came out of an ass. Like, a big hairy man ass. Not good. So basically, e-cigs require you to order shit online. Trust me, if you're gonna buy one from the mall or anything, save the cash and buy a carton of smokes (or a nice bag of ganja). But if you change your mind, feel free to ask where to order a good one, my mom and I will gladly answer.
LOL^^ I have heard bad things before about the mall kind but what site would be best to order one off of and which one should I pick?
