Happy Sunday to you all and Happy Momma's day to all the the mother's who visit here...which I think is just you @Heavn...in which case Happy Mother's day Heavn. Been prepping food and cleaning since yesterday. Made the marinates for the steaks and shrimps last night and got em bagged up. Some side dishes, a layered bean dip and banana pudding as requested. Her favorite breakfast.. Biscuits and gravy with mimosas and bud. Chillin for a bit then fire up the grill. Have a great day y'all!
Yup, I was a lover of animals and kept many of them. My grandma was a dr. of biology, chemistry, and was an oceanographer. I was forever catching things, snakes, lizards, frogs, birds, catties. I caught a tarantula at an airshow at Edwards two times, a sand snake at Glamis. I thought it was a coral snake but turned out it was a sand snake. there is a little saying like to tell the difference like begin with yellow flee black is stay...
That's too cool man! You've been holding out on me all this time there fellow herp nerd! Ive never seen a coral in real life but I remember learning the saying as "Red next to yellow, kill a fellow. Red next to black, friend of Jack." Always thought those were some cool looking snakes. I used to do the same things haha! I was the kid who was always turning over rocks hoping to find something. Salamanders, frogs, garter snakes, bees...I kept em all. I think all that digging around in the dirt is why growing organically appeals to me so much lol.
The sand snake was not very big maybe 14-16 inches. But you have the saying right. The old man at the pet store of my youth identified it. He said the rhyme and told me it was harmless. Then he told me how to keep it. I never held the snake because I still wasn't completely sure. lol.
I'd like to get my hands on a sand boa. My rat supplier has one in her house somewhere. She forgot she took it out to feed a few weeks ago and hasnt seen it since. Make matters worse, she adopted a carpet python that recently pushed the top off it's tank and is also now loose in her house too.
We've had a few escapes but none in the main part of the house since I dedicated a room that only I go into. I did however leave a tub open and forget about it a few months ago. Found the snake behind a rack it was supposed to be in.
Day 40! Pics 1&2: Tangie is yellowing fast and shes barely getting started so...yeah, always something. Shes a big girl though and takes up alot of room. Gonna be a pain getting her out of that trellis. The blueberries are definitely showing their individual pheno traits. Pics 3&4: #2 is really living up to her "Donkey Dick" monicker. Very long spears! Pic 5: #1, the grenade pheno, is beginning to fatten up.The recently rooted clones I snapped pics of, came from her. Last round, her buds turned CHUNKY AF! Pic 6&7: 777 is kinda hitting a wall it seems. Her older leaves look kind of pale but the buds are starting to get that purple'ish hue. Pics 8&9: Lastly, WWookies smells like burnt rubber. Every bud site is coated in frost that I can't do justice for in the pics I've been taking.
I would not be able to sleep in that house lol. Is be like they gonna eat me. Gonna have to look those up lol. Sent with more cow bell!?
Lol! I wouldn't be able to sleep either...cause I wouldnt be allowed! Gets the heart pumping to see an open cage with no snake in it. Thanks! I can't believe that were at day 40 already. Gonna be time for harvest before I know it. I hope you're having a good day!
The sand boa interesting. That carpet python.. Fuck that I'd move lol. She better find that one before bed We good just finished vacuuming the whole house. About to eat lunch. It's so awesome to see how well your garden turned around. Job well done! Sent with more cow bell!?
Thing that trips me out the most is the fact that she also has a house full of chickens, cats and piglets....all potential food items for a large snake lol. I once watched one of her pigs snatch a large rat and chomp it down like nothing. Damn things are true garbage disposals lol. Thanks for the good words on the girls! I'm excited but mixed with a little dread about the upcoming one person trim party. I was thinking last night about possibly shutting down for a month or so after this run. Gotta go meet the new in-laws in Texas and will be gone for a week. Never even thought about it until last night. Not sure what Im gonna do. Thanks Sit! I still have that Pineapple mystery and the Larry that need to get some center stage action. I'm gonna clip the heck outta both to get as many cuts as possible. Both look like poop right now and are in desperate need of transplant but they're still healthy so we will see.
Like they all just free and chilling through the place uhhhhh now i feel like she in a hoarder house with animals. Please tell me it not full of animal feces.... Her pigs are eating her snake food lol wait does she have snakes big enough to need pigs to eat? Ohhhh yeah trim jail so much fun lol Might be a good idea to shut down long enough for a visit. That should be a fun adventure. How's she liking Texas? She meet her man in school? Sent with more cow bell!?
Yeah lol, she's got animals everywhere. From pigs to horses to peacocks and a few ponies. It's like an old run down farm. My little girl is a damn Texan now and actually liking it lol. I think the weather there is a big plus for her also. Maybe I'll drop off some cuts to someone local who can take care of em. Snapped some pics tonight.... -That top dress is starting to take hold in the pot with blueberry #1. #mulchporn! - Blueberry #1 starting to swell a bit. - Blueberry #2 - rest are WWookies
I had a supervisor at work that lived like that lol. Nice what part she in our around if you don't mind me asking? Looking good..... Nice mulch Sent with more cow bell!?
Shes right outside Houston. I forget the name of the area. I've only been to Dallas for work so I'm not at all familiar. Should be an interesting trip lol. Thanks on the plants!
