Guess who ate her first LIVE meal and UNASSISTED! Finally linked up with the feed farm and stocked up. Didn't really want to give her a live one but I figured we should go back to the basics and see if she'd instinctively catch on. I left the room so as not to distract and when I came back, she had a fat belly and even produced a little pee plug lol. Also snapped pics of a few others eating...all of their meals were pre-killed. Second pic is Henry (Yellow Belly x Lesser) who will one day produce a blue eyed white snake for us.... hopefully. Third pic is a hold over that I kept from a while back. She is Black Pewter and literally has no name to this day. Didn't want to name her in case she got sold but I decided to hold onto her and a litter mate cause they both show high expression for a lighter form of their morph called "Silver Streak" and they both also carry the albino gene.
Huge win for her. Should give her some much needed nutrition. I'm positive that her stomach was completed empty. Figure I'll wait about 10 days before I try to feed again. I guess them hunger pangs just got to be too much lol.

My understanding is most don't want to feed live because they can attack the snack. That must be stressful worrying. I watched Dr pol once and this chick brought in her python and she feed it a live rat and the rat beat the crap outta the snake. Was horrible. Snake made it though. That last snake little miss no name. Is very pretty. I forget how many snake you got? Sent with more cow bell!?
She got a rat pup this time...about the size of an adult mouse, so theoretically, more nutrition particularly protein. Rodents can really tear a snake up. Some keepers have left their tanks unsupervised and come back to find the rat actually eating the snake. With pinkies, fuzzies and pups I don't worry about it so much because the rodents teeth and claws arent yet strong enough for anything. It's a really unfair advantage for the snake when you think about it but that's my main reason for pre-killing. Cuts down on suffering. Thanks lol...Ive learned that having patience for this stuff is way easier said than done. It's impossible to not worry. Thought I was gonna have to assist feed her right through her juvenile stage so this a big relief. Hopefully she sticks with it so I can actually prove her correctly to confirm sex. Been holding off so as not to stress her into total starvation. ***Oh btw, we are currently at 14 snakes in the collection***

I have a somewhat recent video of one of my girls trying to take a swipe at me. Was recording myself giving her a rat and she mistook me for what she was smelling. Scared the $h!t outta me! Thank you thank you! Trying to keep up with you all!

Happy Mother's day (weekend)! I hope you get pampered and spoiled. Moms with little boys should get hazard pay. Wow that shows been on forever! I guess kids know good tv lol. Low 90s here. live feed would fuck up my tarantula, I'd have to chop off the wings and a few legs or it would run scared. id usually have to wound the food for every spider or reptile I had. oh my, a proper sized rat can fuck up a cat or even a dog. especially any ny rat or one from another country. carnivores to the max! stunning! BOING!
Thats cool you keep a tarantula! I've never had one. They haul ass when they want to so I'm always worried about one getting lose in the house lol. Yep, I've seen pics of some horrible injuries inflicted by rats and other rodents. I've seen (in pics) snakes with the flesh stripped from their sides...or tails gnawed off. So here's a pic of a blueberry #1 clone that rooted from my homemade cloning gel! I took three cuts from that mom some weeks ago. Also got 2 cuts of Tangie and 1 from the Pineapple Mystery.
