Downstem diffuser and ash catcher needed or not ?

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by Ultramaxx, Jul 29, 2021.

  1. My last one broken during cleaning years ago , do they make stronger ones anywhere that aren’t expensive?? My local headshops suck for those

  2. Ash catchers are a pain in the hynee. Really not needed and cheap ones don't do the job or break easily. You're also gonna add some drag with an ashcatcher, especially if it's got a perc.

  3. I had one that was like $60 got ripped off by a head shop , pressures by a bad friend to buy it . Probably wasn’t borosilicate glass it broke so easily …
It made smoke smoother and cooler but yea harder to clear .. maybe better off just changing the water more often ???

  4. You should be cleaning and changing your water everyday.

  5. I do but during usage the ash can get annoying, I meant changing water instead after every bowl or two of getting ash catcher but an extra perc would make it smoother yet harder because drag . some ash catchers cost as much as a new bong too …
Maybe the beaker will solve the issue of water warming too fast .

  6. Are diffused down stems good enough in bongs without a perc??
Get tired of no ice catcher, this stemless bong can’t add a diffuser sadly .

  7. Wait till you get your new bong. I think you'll be happy.

  8. Yeah it’s definitely better then the one I’m using now , the Amg beaker was like $130 or so glad I got a better deal … I’m unsure if Amg is not as good as thick glass as advertised or if my baseplate was just defective, the top is definitely 7mm thick .

I’ll Be trying different brands , la pipes seems like a good start ..

  9. I won't use any of my glass without an ashcatcher. cleaning them becomes an almost daily chore without the ashcatcher. They will create additional drag but not with that honeycomb straight tube you have now. The non-diffusing one that is also shown in the link provided by JoeBlow is only $34 and is probably what you want. All it does is collect ashes. No extra water filtration.

  10. His link was for a $160 tag model . I’d need something under $40 or wait ..
This one ? Kinda pricey for no percs

  11. Try warm or hot water in your bong. Take a hit when it's still hot or warm and it'll be smoother than adding ice and won't make you cough as much.

I've never noticed a difference either way. It's the filtration of the smoke thru the water that smooths the hit. Far as adding ice to my pieces that are built for them

  13. Temperature has a lot to do with it.

Should You Be Using Hot Water To Get Better Bong Hits?

  14. So cold water just heats up ? Anyways, do ice cubes cool smoke down much ?
This straight tube I can’t use ice cubes no catchers ..
I got the money just $160 for a ash catcher is too much for me , and I’ve yet to expect my parents to understand why I need ash catcher .
It’s hard to find anything multi perc under $150 , except thin glass models 5mm , rarely 7mm.

yes I heard hot water was a better option but keep forgetting to try it . Room temp isn’t anything special either . Maybe heat water up in microwave or something? Or brew coffee without a. K cup .??
