Do you need to fireproof wood for a homemade pipe if I'm just using it as the stem?

  1. Hey I'm making a pipe and I found this wooden pen and took out the pen part and now it's just a hollow wood tube. I'm going to use this metal bowl I found(the metal isn't aluminum or tin so it shouldn't be that toxic) and I'm going to hold the pipe together with this air drying clay(don't worry I'll make sure the clay doesn't touch where the smoke goes, so no toxic shit there). But I'm wondering if I'll burn the wood or something when I light it even if it's just the stem, do I need to fireproof it or something? I have no idea what kind of wood it is if that matters, just looks like normal wood.

  2. Find out what kind of wood tobacco pipes are made out of, if they are treated, and how.
