After having bought and been disappointed with the Glass Gripper brand pad, I decided to see if I could do better. I found a seller on ebay that had what I needed. Turns out the foam is thicker and better quality. The adhesive has also stood up to regular washings, the glass gripper did not. I paid 5 bucks for a 6 inch round glass gripper, I paid under 10 for (8) 8x11" sheets in various colors. If you put your piece down on hard surfaces all the time, in my opinion it's cheap insurance. It's a foam adhesive pad you stick to the bottom of your bong so when you put it down on hard surfaces you don't break your bong. Unneeded imo.
Personally I really like not feeling any vibration or noise wherever I set my tube down. The adhesive on the ebay pads is far superior to the Glass Gripper, I've had a W* piece soaking for 12+ hours now in SG and it's still holding. Like I said earlier the GG didn't stick during a quick rinsing. It did however restick after drying a few times. All the surfaces in my house are glass or stone and having coasters all over the place isn't for me. So for the few bucks it cost me I'm happy having a pad to cushion against shock. To each his own on using one or not, but for a few dollars its worth the try.
