Device That Gives Precise Dosing

  1. Hey everyone wasn't sure where to post this as this product can be used in multiple ways. I have a friend who invented a patented device that dispenses personalized doses using AI. He's starting with CBD and melatonin pods. The way it works is, you buy a prefilled pod containing either CBD or melatonin. You attach it to a battery (think like a vape), which has a display on it. You answer some simple questions to set the initial dose. You can then experiment with dosage giving the app feedback, which helps you figure out the right dosage. This would allow precise dosing down to the sub-milligram level. It could eventually be used with other medicines like THC and can used for vaping. I think this could be a game changer for how things like CBD is taken, but am curious what others think.

    Rad.

  3. By the way, I saw a reply to mine saying something about cost but now it's gone. He is thinking of selling it for $200 all in. Right now he is raising funds to finish everything but the product is working.

  4. You realize this is not a new invention. Insulin pumps work by monitoring blood glucose and automatically administer the proper amount of insulin. The tech is so similar, he's probably going to have a hard time patenting it.

  5. Yes, I do realize this has been applied in other areas. There is also a product called Mode which regulates the amount of vape thus giving a more measured dose of THC. However, this paired with AI is totally new to CBD and other wellness products as far as I could fined. Given his background as a former NASA engineer and the fact that he already has a patent on it the patent side isn't going to be a problem. He also has a lot of experience in patents for vaping .

  6. Good luck.

  7. Without trying it, I'm thinking it dispenses accurate measured amounts. Will the dosage be correct? (as that can change). It kinda sounds like an algorithm & can only process the info it is given (is that info correct???) Run it up the flagpole & see who salutes.

  8. This is a good question. My guess would be as long as the ingredients are legit then they should or at least learn. I may give it a try soon so can report back how well it works.

  9. I think your thread should be posted in High Ideas but maybe I'm missing something. Insulin pumps give a continuous dose and they must be FDA approved. They usually require the disposable parts such as the cannula which is inserted under the skin, the line to the cannula, and the insulin reservoir to be changed every 3 days. The testing needed for FDA approval is very expensive so I don't think your friend is planning on making it work like an insulin pump where the drug is injected into your body so exactly how does this device dispense the drug?

I don't think THC needs to be measured to the sub-milligram level and neither does CBD so what's the point? Drugs that need milligram or microgram dosing are diluted to allow accurate dispensing. I use a $20 milligram scale to take a precisely measured dose of 3:1 diluted oil for capsules and if it's not quite enough or too much I adjust my next dose accordingly.

Maybe if I needed to dose every hour I'd consider spending $200 on such a device but I don't need a nail gun to pound in two nails a day.

  10. Been smoking weed for about 53 years, I fail to see why I need anything or anyone telling what I should be dossing at.

Reminds me of my ex Wife, telling me about sex, She said I get it once a year regardless if I need it or not.

  11. For the sub mg bit my thoughts were this probably comes in handy for therapeutics like LSD or psychopsilocybin. CBD and THC probably won't make much of a difference on that granular level.

  12. Happy to move it there. I would share video but don't want to run afoul of any rules being broken. You essentially have a battery and then a pod that attaches to it. The pod could be filled with liquid or ointment. You have a button that allows you to drop as many drops as you want or it works with software that based on your feedback determines how many drops are dispersed. So you could set the amount in the app...or you would answer questions over a few days and it would determine it. In that sense it's like an automated pipette. Personally, I liked the idea of having something automated taking my feedback and then automating the dosing for me. What could also be useful is that if it became used by the masses the data around what the "average" starting dose for beginners sliced by weight/height etc..
