Learning to heat the Dab bowl to just the right temp where you get vaporization and the best taste/flavor is sometimes hit and miss using a torch. More times then not I cannot match the flavor the seahorse max or the mighty vaporizer provides, to the point I no longer use my dab rig bong attachment. I haven't tried the E dab thing that works with the Dab/bong attachment . but as of using the gas torch on batter, the vaporizers is the most user friendly to achieve the correct temps. Plus there is a attachment hose that goes from the seahorse max to a bong making another good way to smoke batter. Just my thoughts.
Dabbing with a torch never went smooth for me. Hitting it to hot by accident and then my plans of Dabbing off a clean quartz banger ends there so I torch it clean then got a cloudy banger. The enail helps it all make sense.
Trying to torch it clean never helps. I jumped into dabs in the fall and yeah I was hitting my first few way to hot. Burning the material and chazzing the shit out of the terp pearls and banger. soak soak soak soak in alcohol and literally need to scrape the burned crap off. Heating and heating just makes it worse. I was able to bring my banger back to 100% clear day 1 look after almost a month of fucking up my dabs. Now that I've got temp figured out and I Q-tip the banger with a dry q tip, than an alcohol q tip between EVERY dab, I haven't blackened the banger, and it still looks new.
Heating a titanium nail til it's a little red is standard. For a quartz banger when dabs are too hot or too much heat is applied to a quartz banger it gets a grayish-black haze to the glass called chazz/chazzing. A quartz banger should never get red hot. Your only degrading the quartz. Look into the cold start technique and use q-tip swabs to clean the banger between dabs. it's the only way to properly use a quartz banger.
I personally wet wipe/rub my banger with rubbing alcohol after every hit, even when hot. The only reason you'd need to let a banger cool down all the way before taking another hit, is if your using ruby terp pearls or a ruby insert (even than you don't really have to). Otherwise it's completely cool to load up another dab while it's still warm/hot. The banger doesn't have to be room-temp for it it to be considered a "cold-start", but I can see why the terminology could be confusing. From my experience usually the lighter the color of hash the more fire it will be.
Yep, that is fine. A little bit of rubbing alcohol goes a long way for cleaning the banger, you just need a pinch. On occasion I'll soak up a fat amount of iso on my swab and I'll get some burning hot iso splash-back on the fingers.
