after cleaning - wsh in sink with dish soap - then for really fresh hits fill the shaft with ice and herbs / rose petals or mint leaves - awesomeness
Unless residue of cleaning materials then it may just need seasoning. When i smoked bongs religiously for 20 years i never really liked a perfectly clean bong after the 10th hit it always got nicer up until the last hit when it was gross
This happens to me, sometimes i clean it and it tastes great recently its been getting worse and worse again, im not sure what causes it but it gets worse the more i smoke, sometimes like weed says above, its horrible for the first few and then nice for a while and then it goes disgusting burnt paper taste again, im not sure what causes it but it sucks! im going to try the vinegar thing!
Next time you clean rinse with alot of cold water. Hot water heats up the resin and gets it to have that resiny smell and taste.
ok so the vinegar thing really does work, This problem has been bugging me on and off for 2yrs and several grows! the bong gets cloudier and i wash it but i didn't realise the cloudiness was the hard water salt build-up! i thought it was just resin and ended up changing bongs to get the taste back again until the same thing happened, I came across this thread the other day and decided the give it a go and straight away the bong is clear and the harsh hits have completely gone! Thanks man! So do you think those bad hits come from salt build-up or cynobacteria or something? Its so disgusting when it happens, the only way i can describe it is smoking a pack of papers in 1 toke.
How long did you soak it in vinegar and was it regular white vinegar? Ive repeated this method countless, and also with hot water and days soaked in iso. Or vinegar. Tried cleaning vinegar 6% various ways too. Crystal clear especially this time around. But keeps forming a film or what looks like some kind of greenish gunk and immediately oily looking water and causes disgusting harsh gagging hits (only when actually smoking). even worse now. And bad headache. Its happened to slides ive only used hot tap water on (one was hot tap and vinegar). Then if i even smoke with that same slider i just used in one of the pieces that went "bad" (have 4) they get harsh and gross. And its been about 2 months now since i could even hit one of them without coughing or gagging and feeling shitty theyre just too fucked up now. I tried a homemade pipe thing i kept in my fridge which has only gotten tap water and smoked from once before, and that got harsh when i tested it yesterday but i have have used a slide that was developing the issue i dont know. Bought new slides that have worked in soda bottle grav bongs and broken brita filter which worked fantanstic(but the water ruined the brita filter i was using and it smells now, probably got the issue the same way as a bong but has a way larger surface area so its slower spreading). Same thing happens if i try a slide in a "bad" piece then put it back in something thats wrking or use hot tap water only (to clean a new one) and then try it again in the grav that just worked a minute ago. The tap water seems suspicious but i cant be sure because i believe my first piece didnt go bad until iso clean. God i wanna live again..
Yeah always use dish soap , after using cleaner otherwise water alone won’t rinse everything out . I’ve never tried herbs / flower before …
