Today I use a steam roller from Ehle which in my opinion a rather expensive piece of glass. I bought it for €60 and realize there are steam rollers out there that look very similar and cost like €15. I like it a lot! But I'm not sure if the price is justified. Now I'm looking to buy a bubbler but can't decide whether to buy this one for €25 which looks cool and good enough or this one for €200 from Ehle to match my steam roller and has a somewhat neater design. I mean I would probably choose the second one if it weren't for the 10x price, now this would just make me feel like being ripped off. Is there something other than the somewhat neater design that would justify this difference in price? Is it the glass quality? I never drop my stuff anyway, and even if I did, I wouldn't expect to do it like 10 times to make the second one worth the price. I'm confused how Ehle products can be so expensive, there is a bong from them for over €1000! I would expect it to generate weed.
The more expensive one was probably manufactured to a higher standard. That said, I'd probably just get the cheap one. Even if you break it, it's cheap to replace.
I'm thinking that too, but we are saying "probably" just because it's more expensive. I can't even find a statement from themselves about what justifies their prices anywhere. Also, what can these "higher standards" even be. A sturdier glass? By how much? It just doesn't seem worth it.
I shop for efficiency and utility. Ive bought expensive glass that had hella drag, or wouldnt hit because they didnt blow it to be used properly. Ive bought cheap china glass that would knock ur socks off every single hit. Idk man. I appreciate heady glass but for the purpose of getting high, its totally fckin pointless to waste hte money lol
Totally agree. I think I would like the Ehle one tbh since it's a bit neater in my opinion and matches my steam roller. but for 10x the price, I cannot allow myself to do it, it will just remind me of how ripped off I've gotten everytime I use it. I bet it's the same with grinders. I've had a pure metallic 4 parts grinder from RQS for €30 for years. Recently I've had some very sticky buds that caused my grinder to go totally stuck several times, I was considering buying a "non-stick" SLX-grinder for €160 until I read that they will stick as well but will also lose some of it's coating and blend it into your material. Then I learned that it's really easy to clean the sides of my metallic grinder with a little glue wash and make it work like day one. So happy I didn't give SLX a try. I'm going to go with the €25 bubbler until I find a need that the 10x the price bubbler could've satisfied.
the snobberie just sux, for me the VIP is the deal to clean the item ;real; fast as in time the name and shit fades and quick becomes the favorite tool to toke, to keep it topline its gotta be clean so cleaning fast is up their good luck
Yeah, I thought about that too. The cheaper one seems a little bit harder to clean but I still think it should be easy using a pipe cleaner dipped in glue wash. Glue wash is amazing, if you are using alcohol to clean off resin, you are missing out!
bottle brush I got beforehand, some ISO and salt does the trick for me now I'm on my 19th bong, er-er 23rd? pipe, but first vape, true the old Davinci I don't get to ride much these days...it carries so little
I started by smoking spliffs with tobacco then damiana. Then tried vaping for 2 years, have Pax and Crafty. Pax was too concentrated smoke for my taste and I almost only used Crafty after I got it. But Pax is very handy for travel and fast hits. Then I realized I miss burning stuff so I tried pipe and loved it but Stream roller is even nicer. What I love about my steam roller is that it's glass so I don't need to worry about damaging it with whatever I choose to clean it with. My steam roller's white logo looks as fresh as day one after more than 1 year everyday use, so maybe that's one of the benefits of Ehle since you said that you've seen the stuff fade away. It's so much easier to clean and maintain than my pipe and vaporizers, saves so much time!
When choosing a bubbler, consider the quality and durability. While cheaper options may seem appealing, they often lack longevity and may require frequent replacements. Investing in a more expensive bubbler can offer better materials, construction, and features, ensuring a longer lifespan and better performance. Having bought nothing but cheap bongs and pipes I can say it's all about how the bowl is shaped. Want a good funnel with a decent orfice, basically you want the bowl to be shaped for optimum venturi effect.
Tell us how it works , which brand was it ? Ehle Was really pricey I got la pipes instead last time. I don’t know why Ehle cost so much it wasn’t as thick glass. Yeah I go for quality over low price but sales change that. I don’t know why Ehle cost so much
Well I didn't get the expensive Ehle one so I don't have anything to compare. All I can say I didn't enjoy my bubbler and I'm mostly still using my steam roller. The bubbler hits too strong. I was under the impression that the water would make the smoke smoother allowing me to inhale more without coughing. Instead you will end up inhaling too much on almost every hit because you will need to drag a bit harder to get through the water and that makes me cough all the time. But I think it's more of a bubbler issue than the price of the glass. I would hate to had paid for the Ehle one and not enjoy the concept.
Weird ℹ though the same that water cooled the smoke any pics of example of what bubbler style you got ? steam roller Is smoother I’m suprised!!! I never hit a Quality glass one though.
It's a tough call between the cheaper bubbler and the pricier Ehle one. Maybe the higher cost is for better glass quality, but if you're careful with your stuff, it might not matter much.
I don't mind the glass quality at all. But I don't like the concept of bubbler, just makes me cough. I love my Ehle Steam roller, I like it's design and I'm used to it now too. I always love stuff I get used to. In the end it's just a glass tube and I've seen much cheaper versions of what I have. If I had to purchase another I would probably get a cheaper one.
