  1. We have cable and Netflix. I've been thinking about Amazon Fire TV, but I need to make sure that we'll still be able to watch the shows that we like, local news, yada, yada. If not, we may have to add something else to the mix. I think Yoda would be game, I just need to make the time to look into it.

  2. The only reason why cable TV subscription is so good lately is because the ISPs let you watch your favorite games online if you have their TV service too.

  4. I have cable....never paid for it but i've been watching it (no premium channels) for nigh on to 10yrs now. WTF do I know about how or why it's hooked up? I'm not a cable TV specialist for crying out loud!

And I stream. Azon Prime only these days. Cable TV can F*CK OFF!

  6. Look into a Roku. It has the Amazon app on it, as well as Netflix, HBO, basically any major streaming service including things like Spotify and YouTube as well. There are also some apps for local news as well, but I'm not sure where you live exactly and if they'd have the channel. This is one of the apps I have (Roku).

Don't sleep on the Roku guys. It's not everything, but it's definitely something.

  7. I've had netflix for years, since it was just sending DVD's thru the mail. Rarely use it. Also have a Roku that I've never plugged in.

I still have cable, mostly used for live sporting events and watching TV in bed.

I'd much rather watch live events while sitting on the couch in front of a big TV with a nice sound system than on a smaller screen sitting at my computer desk

  8. haven't had cable in years. I watch shit on Netflix every now and then. Usually new seasons of their original shows that I like. I also can stream shit on Amazon since I have a prime membership but I never use it.

For the most part I just watch videos on YouTube or movies I own.
you're aware that you can connect a computer to a TV right? unless it's one of those massive old school TVs.

    ....just sayin'.

  11. With my unlimited data plan from a smaller cell company I stream Netflix, YouTube, Pandora et:al as close to 24-7 as I can.. I'll wake up at 2 AM and turn it back on just to nod off 3 minutes later.. I average about 60 gigs of data per month through my phone.. Ditched the cable-land phone-internet about a year ago now.. I can tether 8 gigs so that's been enough for the computer work I need to get done..

  13. We can't get cable here, too remote. lol
Our only TV option is satellite, which was fine until the trees got too tall for one of the satellites. We dropped it several years ago. We never found ourselves watching it and new shows have sucked for years. We have DSL and stream from Netflix Hulu and Amazon Prime. I barely even watch those, the wife watches an hour or so a day. I watch maybe two or three shows a week, I'd honestly rather listen to music. We don't let our children watch TV, except for 30 min before bed if they were well behaved that day. So they only time we can watch what we want is in the evening and there is plenty to do in the grow room that takes priority to TV.

  16. Phillip K. Dick was one of the best science fiction writers of all time. "Blade Runner" is his as is "Total Recall" based on his story 'We Can Remember It For You Wholesale". I've read everything by him many times over. My favorite is "Ubik". :ey:

  18. Had basic cable for a while but never paid for it, I guess we still have it but idk if any channels work. Now we just use android boxes. Just a million times easier really. Recently my friend gave me her netflix, never wanted to pay for it haha. Everyone said such good things about it but when I went on I was disappointed. Their content seems so minimal. So android box it is.

  19. Internet TV all day. Cable TV isn't available where I live, and there's no way I'm paying an arm and a leg for satellite TV when I don't give a shit about 99% of the shows. Netflix and Hulu have been plenty IMO. And I split the costs with a friend, so it's even cheaper :smoking:

  20. Perfect timing. We have been thinking of getting rid of our satellite and streaming our shows. Thought about picking up a 4K T.V. And a Xbox 1 to run stuff through. Do any of the services you guys use have any good car shows and what would be best for picking up local stations?
