If you are using a regular socket for your homemade smoking devices, then just toss it out the window right now! Sockets are plated in hexavalent chromium which is carcinogenic to humans when inhaled. Instead go to to Home Depot or Lowes and get a brass hose barb adaptor.. They are great because brass isn't plated in chromium and because the hole at the bottom is very small so the bowl is easier to pack and pulls better. And if you have a thin cap you can just push it straight in to make a grav cap instead of burning the shit out of it or using a knife. This is what they look like.. Yeah obviously glass is the best but at least you won't be inhaling hexavalent chromium.. And the socket pulls a lot better. I'm not saying throw out your glass but I'm just saying if it isn't as bad for you and it works better, then why not??
