I own 2 expensive tubes, and one $70 china bong that sits in the closet. You know why it cost $70? Cuz it sucks. You know why it sits in the closet? Cuz it sucks. You pay for quality, end of story. There is no real 'bong market', it's glassblowers doing what they do. Belive it or not it's not a case of advertising infiltrating your mind, there's ACTUALLY differences of quality. I'd take that $450 and get a Roor or SG. Glass comes before the bud, it's a hobby.

Roor isn't a 'better' name brand. No one is going to say, no don't get an ELHE, get a Roor, they're better quality. People buy Roors or Toros rather than EHLEs in part for the name, but more for the aesthetics, design and features. You can use a homemade if you want, but a nice glass piece is a better smoke and is worth the investment. Cheap glass isn't because it's poorly designed and poorly manufactured, which gives you a worse smoke, plus a crappy looking and brittle piece that didn't save you all that much money.

Yea. I don't even know why I am arguing, because I will be getting a decent glass peice, for the art + design. But going to try to haggle one, will it be a better smoke then my homemade probably not, but it will be a nice bong to bring into my living room. Not a freaking eye sore.
Society is retarded, I will agree with you there. But do not presume to think that the same thing that motivates society motivates my glass collecting. I started with a gatorade bottle, moved on up to a grommet tube and by now I could have bought a new Kia with what I've spent on glass. I assure you, the label on the front of the tube was the least of my concerns. If you enjoy using your homemade right now, then you will absofuckinglutely love using any good GonG tube. And I didn't say your homemade will do the job more efficiently than a nice GonG tube, but merely that it gets the job done. I can not give you a good reason to spend your money as I would spend mine, but only can say that should you decide to buy a nice tube you will not regret it.
I will be buying a glass tube, my homemade is more of a social bong. It is fun to watch people take hits out of it. I smoked a full bowl last night around .5 - .7 and it was so freaking hidden I almost exploded. the water is filted through over 20 holes so it is very mild. But I will be getting a glass peice cause I can see the smoke better when with 1-2 people haha.
perfect message, don't listen to anything but this over all message. roor uses borosilicate glass which is top of the line glass first of all. I personally own a roor, and i can vogue for the quality of glass they deliver. I've had many times where i've knocked my tube against the porcelin bathtub, hit the mouthpiece on the faucette, and dropped a diffuser in a ceramic sink and not make a single crack. I have also broken 2 roor a/c's the normal and the perc'd and several bowls. i also smoke my friends locally blown 3-arm tree perc and i really do enjoy it. I don't clean it or have the daily experiences which will let you know how well crafted it is, but it hits pretty smooth. buy in your price range and what you'd like to hit on the daily.
I remember very clearly starting out using gatorade bottles, milk jugs, two liters or anything else we could get our hands on. I bought a few cheap glass spoons and a grommet tube or two and the first night of using them I thought I was dying. Zero tolerance and six huge rips from a large (and cheap) grommet tube will do that to you. Three years later, I find myself chosing between which of my tubes I want to hit and can personally tell you I enjoy it much, much, much more than making a gatorade bottle. My circumstances and financial situation are slightly different and afford me the luxury to spend a little bit on glass here and there, but I have the unfortunate quality of being insane so I spend far more than I should. However, I don't regret anything and if I could do it again I'd do the exact same thing, or worse .
jeez the way u guys talk about ur high end glass...if u put ur dick in the tube does it suck it for you too? i understand and respecct that smoking a high end piece is satisfying to u because u kno u are ripping the best of the best. but the difference in price is ridiculous. u can say i'm ignorant for not "realizing" the difference in quality, but i think ur all ignorant for spending so much money on a damn bong. if u got the cash to do it and not worry about it, hey more power to ya. personally id rather be spending my money on some dank nugs so i can rip it out of my china glass.
400 should get you whatever the fuck you want unless you're looking for someting big and super worked. hell, 400 could get you two or three good quality tubes, or one very nice tube (better be very nice if you're paying 400 for it)

It literally is glass art. Theres just something about knowing that the person who made that tube cares about it just as much as you do. Glass has become a sub-culture within a sub-culture. I love high end glass not because of it getting me super high but because it has turned into a hobby of mine. And i know the others defending these companies view it as a hobby too. you're not ignorant for not recogninzing the difference in quality, you're ignorant for arguing when you don't have a leg to stand on. you have minimal experience at best with high end tubes, yet you're arguing against them and spouting evidence that is either false or irrelevant. you're opinion would actually be helpful in this subject if you had experience with both
just because i have never owned a high end bong doesnt mean i dont have any experience with them. one of my friends has a $420 roor that i used to smoke all the time...ya it smoked sick. But it did not smoke $200 sicker than my piece. it didnt look $200 cooler than my piece. when i got my bong and my buddy saw it and hit it, he admitted he got ripped off by roor. they are illogically, stupidly, insanely overpriced. thats probably why u guys like them...snobs.
I thought this too, for a while. But it's completely untrue. The more expensive ones are the better ones (typically). They're better quality. Think about it. What would be more well put together, a $700 Toro with a worked disc/circ perc, or a 4ft china bong with 6 4-arm tree percs for the same price? You can tell 'name-brand' tubes are more well put-together and the price reflects the work put into it, rather than being mass produced cheap china created soely to turn a profit.
