Fuck man it's 2024 and this many of you are still smoking out of plastic Just pick up a cheap glass pipe for 10-20 bucks or a little more for a bong. Or use an apple. Something where you're not gonna inhale plastic fumes potentially. And that includes aluminum cans, those are all lined with plastic too. Some metal I think is technically ok to smoke from but it's always tasted shitty and felt fucked compared to glass to me too.
Yeah I got my new bong on sale $70-90 around there with accessories like a new downstem and bowls a little over $100 probably. But I’ve seen cheapo ones $20-50 people gotta stop smoking out of toxic chemicals laden products …::
I think I've still got like a 6" and a 12" plastic bong way back in the closet. Haven't touched'em in years. Glass is the way to go.
I knew someone with an acrylic , my glass $130 bong walked all over it … I quit going over there because they were parasites begging for free rides and stuff . And they quit weed I was gone.
I got mine at my local headshop and it's been great since day one. Bought several different style bowls over awhile. Found the 1 I really liked so I bought another one just like it. 1 bowl sits in a sealed pill bottle with just enough 91% alcohol to cover it. When the bowl I'm using starts to get gunked, I switch them out. The one soaking in alcohol gets wiped if needed, then rinsed in cold water and the gunky one goes in the alcohol. Total elapsed bowl cleaning time for a spotless bowl about 1 minute.
What’s it look like I tried Quonset hut But they don’t label whether it’s Borosilicate or not. This iso went bad not sure if I should stop down the sink or what to do with it? The plastic container is and looks like trash too…. Apparently not good for soaking Isopropyl in. The problem with My beaker bottom is in the bottom of. Is only 5 mm Despite the bond being Advertised as 9 mm
I have no idea of the proper way to dispose of isopropyl. What I've been doing is pouring the used iso/salt into an old coke bottle or solo cup and setting it somewhere in the sun and just let it evaporate until there's nothing but dirty salt left then just pitch it in the garbage. I would never pour it down the drain though, don't think anything good would come of that. I posted a thread somewhere on here about an 'Unbreakable' bong that I saw advertised and was considering buying. It's called the 'Whomp-It' bong and there's vids and links on youtube and the 'net. Supposedly unbreakable borosilicate glass. They throw it up and let it crash to the road, they drive cars over it, etc. Then others here pointed out that basically all glass bongs are borosilicate glass. So I didn't buy it and stuck with the one I already had.
nah there fake clear glass often sold borosilicate won’t be mentioned in the bong features description. Whomp-It' bong has this so it’s worth it for sure. But mine with a base protection added is strong too the top is 9mm. Perhaps they have a special additive added to there glass Ultra Thick Reinforced Base My Amg which I thought was a knock off survived a few falls on concrete I think. But this newer one I’m using I had to make a base protection thingy because there tooo expensive!!!
Plastic is not something anyone should be smoking out of. And it someone is making their own proper glass bong they're spending more money than they would ordering one.
Why not brother? Amateur here, I'm not picking a fight, just looking to understand The way I smoke there's foil covering the hard plastic of the stem, and the plastic of the bottle is far from any heat source that may melt it - I say far, it's like 10-12 inches am I inhaling plastic particles and fucking myself compared to a wooden bong or an acrylic or a glass?
We used to make our own out of local bamboo. Bongs, and carb pipes for smoking a bone. This picture is a retail bong but the ones we made were real similar, but used metal bowls from screw together chamber pipes. You could definitely get the taste of bamboo somewhere in the middle of all the smoke. Pretty easy to craft.
No fighting big dawg. Just saying I think the risk of potentially inhaling plastic fumes being 0% is the way to go. I can't say for sure how bad smoking using plastic bongs really is, but all this talk about microplastics in our foods and everything else these days has me thinking it being potentially heated and inhaled directly into the lungs is simply not a risk worth taking whatsoever when you can get a solid bong for like 50 bucks or less that's fully glass and is for sure safe comparatively. (Should avoid colored glass if it's on the cheap end and from China especially tho because it could be painted or colored in a bs way) I'm pretty sure acrylic is basically a form of plastic too so I'd avoid those. Wood is probably fine to smoke from in the short term but cleaning with iso or other solvents would probably make it start to break down so I def wouldn't buy one but for a short term little diy for a few seshes with a piece of bamboo or something would be no problem I think. The stoners last resort is always an apple that you can make into a pipe, or even a different fruit or vegetable but apples actually work pretty good lol
Any good beakers with easy to use filtration single perc and borosilicate glass? I’m going to save up for something smaller than my 16” pipe . I still seen no local jobs , doesn’t help we don’t get Sunday paper . I’m still looking. ISO & salt isn’t cleaning my glass know of anything stronger ???? I’m getting 91% iso & salt clean leaving residue ..
I just looked up Iso on amazon and they have a 99% Iso available. I think I've only ever seen 91% locally. I've only ever used the 91% but haven't had any residue problems. I need to get something to clean out my mason jars before cure time hits.
Is that stronger than formula 420 or similar cleaners? I’m out of money atm saving up…$10 left unless I use amazing I got more . ISO isn’t working.
