Best type of bong? Your opinion

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by Ultramaxx, Oct 25, 2021.

  1. A medium sized bong is best for me. A single perc gives me the best balance between smoothness and size. A beaker bong with a single perc that is 12"-15" is my ideal bong. Also replacing the downstem with a pearl diffuser stem gives you a smoother less chuggy draw through the beaker.
15" right here. Perfect size IMO.

  2. ice catchers, gravity bongs are cool zongs as well

  3. I don't have any bongs with fancy perks or anything but I do love my glass bong the best. I have had good results from my silicon bongs too tho...

The Grim Reaper is porcelain and I like the way that hits. But I am very fond of my glass bong... nothing hits like glass!!!

Does the perc make it easier to hit ? I got a beaker zero perc beside stem and it’s hard to hit only 16” tall seemed to big I’m getting something smaller next time volume is too large .

  6. I think it does. Originally (when I had to travel to purchase medically) I got the perc (or ash-catcher) to help re-cycle precious buds that might otherwise fall into the bong un-burnt.

The true side benefit is it does make the hit a little smoother imo, even if the double water filtration (as opposed to single in a straight beaker) doesn't do a lot, just the longer amount of glass gives the smoke more time to cool before it hits your mouth.

I have an otherwise identical 12-inch beaker bong I use and I think it actually hits harder compared to the big 24 or 30+ inch beakers of same shape (I've compared all 3 both straight and with perc attached). My unfounded theory is that smaller bong size = less time and space for the smoke to cool = less volume in the bong means the same sized hit is condensed harder and harsher than in a larger piece.

The problem I have with really big pieces though (like 30-inch plus) is that the sheer volume of air you have to pull through it just to get the smoke to your lips sometimes means you have to step back and get a fresh breath before you even hit smoke (also once a giant bong is full of smoke it may take multiple hits just to clear it.)

If thats the way some prefer to smoke, I say more power to them, but as for my personal opinion, the best sized bong is one you can reliably pull a single, massive, smooth hit out of, depending on how big and how full you pack your bowls and your lung capacity.

Thank goodness I live where I can legally grow my own now, and typically have enough on hand that any guests who wish to share can smoke pretty much however they want.

Its a really good feeling not always worrying if packing another bowl might leave you short before your next chance to obtain more.

my beaker is actually 16” tall one site has it mis labeled it as 12” but it’s really smooth with ice maybe I just didn’t like its volume with no ice.
It seems like the beaker bottom itself has as much if not more volume than my straight shooter style bong which I prefer typically to use because it has a honey comb perc. I quit smoking for a half a year because too cold outside . I wasn’t getting any high, *edit *now thc it works again lol. Not sure if smoking in the basement would wake the parents or not, they could probably care less. They been going to basement when it’s below 30 degrees. I can practice and try to use the beaker a lot more , it’s actually better than my solo perc model , despite no perc and only a basic slotted downstem. I might still add a perc to it with an ash catcher someday just not sure we’re to get it my last one broke. :(
I smoked in the living room tried to make a thing to absorb some of the smoke but I really don’t know if it worked.

The world of bongs can be seriously overwhelming with all the different designs and types out there. Personally, I've found that it really comes down to your preference and what kind of experience you're looking for.I've seen everything from classic beaker bongs with their extra volume to sleek and stylish pink glass bongs that you wouldn't even guess are bongs at first glance!Percolators can definitely step up your smoking game with their water filtration, but it's all about finding what hits just right for you. Some folks swear by recyclers, while others keep it simple with a mini bong or bubbler.

  10. Gonna get a beaker. I think last time I posted here I still hadn't tried putting ice in my glass bong. I was just using it standard. Ice makes the hit so much more powerful.
Does anyone have a soft silicone bong? Like soft to touch like a tension ball? I swear, I went in this dollar store a friend recommended bc the owner sold bongs on the sly. So when I asked her, she pulled out the cutest little guy and said, "I think you will like this!"
I got it for $15.00 and I am still floating on one hit after an hour and a half lol.

  11. I have this little "pineapple express" bong I used to use when traveling overnight or on short trips not worth packing up a big glass piece for, think it was around $30 at the local head shop.

Its soft, if its empty and you squeeze it it has about as much give as a racquetball.

Its never done me wrong after 3+ years of semi-regular use, but at the same time it just can't compete (imo) with the smoothness of a big rip from an icy tall glass piece.

For just straight up portability though, I've had decent (not great experiences with just the simple 14mm adaptor you can screw onto any standard water bottle, sick a full bowl in there, and light it up

Again, not as nice as a full glass piece imo and the long down stem is a real PITA to clean, but if I'm out camping or kayaking the whole thing breaks down into a case about the double the length and thickness of a harmonica, and there is always an empty water bottle around typically.

    Hope this helped mate.

  14. The ones with the indents at the bottom before the bowl part where you can drop an ice cube.

Better use cold water with it unless you want to risk cracking it.

  15. I guess those indents are to prevent ice cubes from breaking the down stem. I don't know if that affects the balance, having wt up higher??? More water the better the filtration, lowering the temp of the smoke, more stable/balanced. ???

  16. It's so you can have water at the bottom and ice up top, letting it bubble easier.

  17. I've been making bongs since 1975 & never had trouble making them bubble??? I've had enough ice in my bongs over the years to sink the Titanic???? Plenty of bubbles. Another solution in search of a problem IMO. :confused_2: YMMV whatev

  18. :lmafoe:

    you know nothing about glass.

  19. beaker bongs hands down the best type of bongs simple and very effective. my daily driver for flower is a 12 inch beaker bong

They are pricey but good glass
    Hundreds of pieces
    Fit most budgets
    Just an example

All the indents and bends are about airflow
Dispersion and cooling is what you want but then some dab experts tell you to use hot water
No joke, had a vendor tell me to use hot water on one of the dedicated vape sites

I have two different water pipes and two different ball vape heads (diffuser and injector) and you can coax all kinds of flavor based on temps and airflow
Have some heavenly sativa in there and you can taste the pepper

I use all glass air path with a B2 Flower pot ball vape

There is borosilicate and quartz for high heat (easier to clean)

My set up is low to low mid level spending and I use sales and codes
