Are 1/4 sockets safe?

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by FourTwentySeven, Apr 19, 2013.

  1. they've probably got some sort of poisonous coating or varnish on them but the raw metal should cause you no problems. I used to do shit like that along with tin foil until I realised id rather relax and smoke joints

  2. Your completely good, man. Most people use sockets for their gravity bongs and such. No open flame on foil, plastic, tape, glue, shit like that and you're good.

    Happy toking.:bongin:

  3. Thanks guys:) Do you know how I can tell if it doesn't have any coating or shit over it? I just want raw metal

  4. Just get a knife and scrape the outside of the socket and if it chip you know its not metal but most good kits are made of raw metal.

  5. Damn that's a fantastic idea.

    Thanks bro! Smoke on :)

Hold it with pliers or something over an open flame...this should burn off any packaging oils that are on the socket. Just make sure to wipe off all of the soot after you do this. This is assuming the socket is made out of stainless steel, like most are. Good luck!

  7. toxic coating?

pretty much all common sockets are made from crmo, wich inself is toxic (when ingested) but HIGHLY heat resistant, so as long as its a nonrusty clear sockets its okay

  8. raw metal would be the worst option (besides plastic) as it will corrode

  9. u want to use stainless steel for ur bowl
