my apix DD is too big for me, i still use it, but i keep a metal screen in it otherwise my weed would being falling through because i only sprinkle a little bit in. i have a Ben wilson DD and i find it to be alot more practical, and that the disk is better made. its kind of a deep slimming pack. im sure dan has gotten better at the DD making, but i like small slides.... DD's are amazing though, can make any piece pull good. i never use my pinch slides anymore. i like DD>4 hole>push>pinch ( i dont think apix will even make pushes though, he said he wasnt up to it when i got my shit from him....)
I wanted a bent neck tube because I didn't like having to bend over. Dan said the 24mm tubing was the best choice for making a clean bend. Don't think 24mm is THAT small.. Are you thinking it will be difficult to clear?
Weird that you the Apix 4-hole has more flow than his DD. Usually DD slides have noticeably more airflow than 4-holes... Finding it weird that the people in this thread aren't liking IPs either, I just got my first IP slide and I like the way it hits WAYYYYY more than my DD, milks up way better rather than having so much airflow the smoke never actually thickens fully in the tube...
Can't speak for Apix specific, but my personal preference is Ice<Disk<4 Hole. All the ice pinched slides I've had have far too large of holes in the bottom. Big fan of a disk slide, but sometimes the hit can get too airy and pulls lighter out often. 4 Hole has a perfect amount of flow I feel like. Doesn't pull my lighter out, hits aren't too airy and allows for a nice thick milk. I recently got a 4 hole and really didn't expect to like it better than a disk but it just draws more smoothly in my book.
I agree with almost everything flurgen posted. Except his ">" should have been "<" or switched ice pinch and 4-hole around.
Fair enough, it seems like the only IP slide most people like is the Toro one anyways which has tight pinches. I just really hate how airy my DD is, but now that I have a high function piece push slides really don't cut it anymore because of how noticeably smoother the DD hits are. Hopefully my IP from @LT will get the job done, if not looks like I'm commissioning a matching 4-hole for my tube after all.
Yeah I can't use a push bowl anymore. Just doesn't hit good. I've never had a snapper ice pinch like toros, had an mgw few years ago and did have one from Dan, both were big bowls and had lotta space between pinchs. I pack my disk really tight when I use it, helps keep the hit milky.
lately i've been using ice pinch bowls with the glow rod (or hot rod or whatever you call it) the rod blocks a lot of the air flow giving me a super milky rip plus it tastes ultra clean

First post! What's up folks? First timer here, although I have been lurking the forums for a few weeks. I just ordered my first Apix piece after reading some of the discussion here and on other forums, and comparing prices with some other brands. Should be here any day this week!
i love my apix stemline. great piece, great price. my brother has a sheldon black (which he paid more for) and we dont even use that tube since i got my Apix. While the Sheldon is nice and pretty it's doesnt function anywhere nearly as well. Apix Design rules!
I couldn't agree any more about mine. It's the cheapest of my 3 tubes and still my favorite thus far. I have yet to try a SG stemline but some of my friends who have said that my Apix hits just as well. I find the size just perfect.
