Antifa

  1. I don't care who the protesters were.
Protests are democratic, unless they become violent.
Violent protests from either side are wrong.

There are anarchist in the Northwest US, but they aren't the same as antifa.
If ANTIFA stands for "ANTI-FAscism, those protestors are probably more accurately described as ANTICA, "ANTI-CApitalism."
We liberals strongly believe in regulated capitalism as the best form of government.
And that unregulated capitalism can lead to despotism and/or oligarchy.

  2. i'm trying to understand your pov.

if the protestors are more appropriate identified as anti capitalism then how can ANTICA support or advocate for regulated (controlled) capitalism? i dont understand the nuances. are there levels of control that ANTICA prefers over the current regulated capitalist system?

fwiw i dont agree with all corporate, state, and federal operations or regulations but where's the beef for ANTICA?

  3. There are misguided people everywhere on the political spectrum.
I don't keep track of them, other than the ones that appear in mainstream news reports.
Going by FBI guidance, white nationalism is widespread, but antifa isn't.
If antifa does become widespread, and then resorts to violence, they will deserve the same condemnation that white nationalists get.

My main interest is that politicians and government officials tell the truth.

We've already seen, according to trump's own virus docs, that after the first 100,000 lives lost, trump was directly responsible for a large fraction of the remaining 400,000.
    Trump lies cost lives.
    Democracy cannot survive without truth.

  5. We can get politician to tell the truth by voting them out of office when they lie.
But that requires faith in a free press to call out their lies.
And enough morality to put truth and country over party.
When some of the press supports politician lies, or enough people get their news from lying internet sites, then we are in trouble.
    That's our present situation.

One political party has adopted lying as its basic strategy.
Lies about who won the election, election fraud, whether dems are socialist, the existence of antifa, the effect of tax cuts, whether biden is senile, etc.

In an unsuspecting society, liars will have short term advantage until the rest of that society catches on.
That's happening now. People are catching on, and more lying will accelerate the catching on process.

When trump says the jan 6 capitol rioters were giving capitol police "hugs and kisses," but our "lying eyes" tell us different, that's helps society sort these things out.

  6. Interesting read (for some maybe)...

"In the fight against violent extremism, there's a hot debate: Who's an extremist? Two cousins, one a far-right militia member and the other aligned with Antifa, bring that debate to life."

  7. So neither of them were extremists. Cool.

  8. Yeah pretty much

But don't expect anything more from a shill garbage poster

Looks like the politics section will become the echo chamber it always wanted to be.

  14. smokeie c'mon man! haha, dude.... i know you have enough reasoning capacity to know when someone is spitting on your back and telling you it's just rain.

you're willing to fall on your sword over this antifa issue? that's not a wise decision especially since "antifa" is simply "an idea" and there's no one actually dedicated to chaos and anarchy.

  15. Instead of replying with the usual nonsense why not try and address what I said?

This guy makes his living from sensationalising ‘the threat’ from Antifa, how are we expected to take him seriously when he starts crying and whining?
