Advanced Seeds Gelato 33

  1. Buds are dense, but they're on the smaller size. Truthfully I'm not very optimistic on a decent yield. Soil issues hitting right when they needed it the most is gonna hurt I'm sure. Just gonna leave up in the air and hope for the best.

Thanks though man! I agree on the trichome coverage. Both phenos are caked. Good luck with yours finishing!

  2. Welp I called it, today was their day. Somewhere right around day 64 from sign of top budding. The cut will be ready for tp next week into the 20g pot. Gives me around a week to dry and then clean the dirty ass tent out.

  3. Well here's the run down. Total pulled just under half elbow of buds, 5 of that was tops skinny but solid, the rest was under canopy fluff. Now I say fluff cause wasn't as much larf as it was fluffy buds. Probably got close to 2 zips of actual larf and trim too, I didn't weigh that, and will be used for dry sift then to edibles. Ill get pics later im hurting pretty good right now. I did twist a j and only smoked half, and im good and stoned

What did I learn? Well for starters its time to use a proven soil mix, and stop the headaches of trial and error. So I'm waiting on my malted barley still, but have the rest mixed already from the No Till thread. Ill be following the same schedule that mofo has written up.

2nd my environment is too much for this strain. Last one the blue plant handled both lights and heat in the mid 80s fairly well. The gelato did not thats for sure. The foxtails show that. So ill be using only the 268w light this time instead of both.

3rd pot size definitely mattered the 7gs were not enough. Idk maybe with bigger pots the plants would have handled the environment better, but hindsight and all. I think its still better to run 1 light with 1 plant in a 20g pot this time.

So yeah that brings us to now. Like I said I'm waiting to finish the soil and ill be transplanting into that and get her rolling again. The plant is the worse pheno of the 2, kinda want to see if better environment and soil will grow a better looking plant.

  4. Alright moving right along. Like I said im going off the no till recipe. Mixed 1cf peat moss with 1cf Maine lobster compost, then mixed 1.5 cups each of neem, kelp, and crab meal, then 1 cup gypsum, 10 cups basalt rock dust, and 16 cups biochar. After that was all mixed i added in 1cf pumice and mixed well. The malted barley grain arrived i powdered 2 cups and finished mixing it all together again. Remember these measurements are for 2cf so split everything in half if mixing only 1cf.

I got everything setup and transplanted, and boy it was needed badly. Poor girl has been horribly neglected. Figure ill give her a few weeks for adjusting to the new mix and some training, and we'll get right to flowering.
Edit: forgot to say i also added around 10 red wigglers from the worm bin

  5. A few days later and she's looking prime. Was looking rough first couple days dealing with tp shock and new mix, but she took it like a champ!

Temp is mid 80s and 51% rh at canopy level. I opened another vent at the bottom, but no change in temp. Think ima order and intake fan and run duct to another room, try and lose a few degrees that way

I'm and idiot btw, my other soil mix had double the lime needed by using both lime and crab meal. I did do a few slurries and the ph was mid 6s early in the run and just over 7 by the end, so possibly even a little higher at different spots throughout the pot. I think that played a role in my issues, just thinking out loud but something I won't forget

  6. I set the timer yesterday and she had her first 12/12 cycle. She's still working her way into the new mix. A little bloated and some clawing here and there, but all in all I think she's looking alright. Beginning of next week I'll retuck her tops and do a heavy defol. I'm also going to pull the light up a couple inches, sitting at 19" right now 20200814_073526.jpg 20200814_073538.jpg 20200814_073557.jpg

  8. Thank you! Things are coming together nicely.

We're around a week and a half since flip i think. Tops are showing so ima start flower count now. Gave her a heavy trim this morning. Just been following the schedule and so far I have no complaints.

First pic is pre trim and tuck, the rest are after. I still need to trim more off the back, but its tight so ill get that this week sometime

  9. Here we are day 21 from flip. I did my best with the canopy, but letting her get too big in veg kinda screwed me a little. More bowl shaped than even canopy lol, but being my only complaint it could be far worse. We got decent trich development already too. Some of the pics are with flash some ain't. So far I'm still running 1 light, but I've been debating adding the 2nd one as well, think I'll hold off for now 20200902_071013.jpg 20200902_071024.jpg 20200902_071043.jpg 20200902_071046.jpg 20200902_071053.jpg 20200902_071058.jpg 20200902_071106.jpg 20200902_071118.jpg

  10. Looking great in their, too tall! It's gonna be wall to wall budz! :metal:

I think if you can keep your temps in check then you can probably get away with adding more light. Cannabis loves a ton of light and i'm sure your soil is producing some extra CO2, too.

  11. Just wanted to stop in and update the thread. I'm like 90% sure I got spider mites. I know I've been battling them in the veg garden and if I have them I brought them in myself. I saw 2 Itty bitty white crawling bugs, and 1 red mite. I also swear on a few leaves there is the white damaged spots from mites. With being this far in flower I'm refraining from spraying her with anything. I do have lady bugs ordered but they won't be here till next week. So just kinda along for the ride at this point. I don't have anything vegging and don't plan on starting any seeds till November which gives me plenty of time to get this all figured out.

    So now the bad news is outta the way here's the girl at around 4 weeks flower. 20200915_084353.jpg 20200915_084403.jpg 20200915_084410.jpg 20200915_084415.jpg 20200915_084421.jpg 20200915_084426.jpg 20200915_084429.jpg 20200915_084442.jpg 20200915_084447.jpg 20200915_084452.jpg 20200915_084501.jpg 20200915_084507.jpg 20200915_084512.jpg 20200915_084518.jpg

  12. That sucks man I have dealt with spider mites once before and they are evil little bastards

I used some predator mites that came in little bags ,place some around the plant and they come out to hunt actually had pretty good success keeping them down in numbers keeping them at bay and still pulled the harvest

  13. I was thinking of predatory mites at first, but this is all new too me, so thats why I chose ladybugs. They arrived the other day and I released maybe 30 to start. I'm a cheap fucker so just rigged a plastic container with foil to keep it dark for their home. I put a wet sponge in for their water and some raisins for food. I left the foil open beside the stalk so they could climb out as needed and already they are getting to work.

I haven't seen any other bugs since I initially did but I can see some damage on a couple leaves. Other than that its not much to report. Today is beginning of week 6 so finally on the home stretch. Been thinning leaves as needed and just following the no till watering schedule. Lots of pics for everyone, a couple from under sides to see the bug damage. She's super frosty and just starting to swell. Got good hopes for a decent harvest this run

  17. Well I've been slacking bad with things, mind has just been in the wrong place. But today is day 69 and harvest day. I could have gone a bit longer, but I got the return to work call so she came down.

I'm pretty sure I've been dealing with a N toxicity, not sure if I wasn't filtering the teas enough or what, but that's all I can think of. Also the lights been an issue too, foxtails galore lol. I know gelato is supposed to be a harder strain to run so I'm just putting everything together and going with it.

I should have taken more pics but ill get some after she finishes drying. I'll be starting the wedding cake in a couple weeks

Oh we got a new puppy too so I included a pic, his name is Jerry

  18. Man no matter what I'm not breaking 9 zips, 3rd run in a row I've been around 8.5 zips. Though this time at least its just under 1gr/watt actually .89gr/watt total running the single light.

Which brings me to what I'm suspecting a big part of my issue is. I think the light has been a big factor, 2 runs back to back with same issue, and only constant is the light. Different soil mix, different watering regime, same light. Next run ima try and keep the plant lower and see how things go.

I'll snap some bud shots here in a bit. For now here's one of my pups thick as thieves after only 2 weeks

  19. Here's some pics. I dried a day or 2 too long so I haven't even burped the jars, sitting 55-60%. The smell, taste and stone are all an improvement from the prior run.

Got the stuff around the house I needed done finished so germing a vision seeds wedding cake/triple og. I'm holding off on the neem top dress for now as I suspect there's plenty still in the soil. Trial and error and eventually ill get there. I found an extra stash of old trim ill use for mulch, and also plan on adding a few more red wigglers. May add a little compost with kelp top dress. Also I plan on phing my water this run to be safe, well water is 5.6 so ill bring it to mid 6s with Olympus up. Think that's about it for now. Hope everyone out there is doing well, later gators and stay tuned 20201115_060104.jpg 20201115_060110.jpg 20201115_060128.jpg 20201115_060145.jpg 20201115_060307.jpg
