  1. Good morning blades! The full on volcano sacrifice has begun. Humidity has been bad the past week, tent has hit 90%. I ordered a dehumidifier for the tent, but until then these girls got cut. All big leaves gone, most all lower bud sites gone, and shorter tops gone. The other day I went back and defoliated even more to stay a little ahead, whether it helped or not who knows. What was done today should have helped though. They stretched into the canopy fan again so raised it good this time. Also included a picture of the piles of growth trimmed off both today alone, figure same amount other day as well

I'll be scraping cuts this week, have the 2 ima use picked out. 1 will be a mom the other will be used to flower next batch.

Worm bin is moving along. A couple times I found 20 or 30 worms around the air holes. Figured not enough fae for them so drilled another 20 or so holes all around. Since then there's been 1 or 2 climbing the walls. They also were giving a few banana peels to munch on. When digging to bury the peels I found Worms the entire way down. Wasnt sure how the soil/hummus used would work, but seems they like it.

Think that's all for now, thanks for stopping by!
Edit: today is day 14 from switch day 7ish flower

  2. Looks like you’ve got a real nice soil mix going on . Will be definitely looking for the recipe whenever I’m in soil again . Tidy growing

  3. Thanks, but I take no credit for the soil. It was based off ITGs mix from the organic soil mix for beginners thread, only with a few added extras. Little P heavy but think now is when they will thrive from that.

Man I need some coffee this morning, smoked a pork butt and ribs yesterday and got a little tipsy for the first time in months. 8hrs into the smoke the sky opened up so it was all hands on deck to keep things dry. Son and I had fun getting soaked, it felt great! Pics are different angles but within minutes of each other. Pics are me literally holding the phone straight up, so that should give perspective on height of those oaks, 100' easy, 300+ years old 20200529_152834.jpg 20200529_153559.jpg

  4. Good morning! So today I built my next batch of soil. Built the base soil this time instead of using happy frog, also only used half cup of Dr. Earth all purpose instead of both all purpose and flower girl.

Mixed just over 2cf of soil in total. Started with 5g peat, to that added 2.5g of hummus from the woods outback along with 2.5g of castings, and thats the hummus. Then added 5g perlite, and thats the base soil.

    20200531_044108.jpg
    20200531_043935.jpg

Once that was mixed I added 8 cups of glacial rock dust, and 2 cups garden lime
    20200531_044735.jpg

Then come the amendments, here's that list
    .5c Dr earth all purpose
    1 cup alfalfa meal
    1 cup neem meal
    1 cup crab meal
    1 cup bone meal
    1 cup sea bird guano
    2 cups kelp meal
Idk if its needed but I also added a splash of great white myco

    20200531_045454.jpg
    20200531_050415.jpg

Mixed that all for 15 minutes or so, mix it well corners, sides and very middle. From the outside in and side to side, working it all really well and breaking up any chunks I came across. Then I added around 3/4 gallon of water, and continued mixing another 10mins. This final results are not quite at field capacity but close. Can begin to ball up with no dripping water, but easy to break apart too. This will sit for an easy month, but probably closer to 2 till I use it.

When my cuts are ready they will go into the old mix to continue vegging, and only when ready for tp into final pots will they end up in the new mix. Figure this way the new batch has plenty of time needed to cook.

Think thats it for now, if anyone has questions please ask, we can learn together

  5. Nice lesson , cheers. Will definitely be considering this. Gave up on the whole soil gig after not so wholesome growing , was only using general purpose and perlite with bottled nutes though.

Made the switch to hydro and said I’d never go back. but seeing the health of yours has got me thinking .

Excuse my ignorance but is this considered a living soil since it’s cooked ? Will you be adding organic nutes or bottled or do you have enough amendments to get you to harvest ?

Glad to be here for the ride

  6. Thank Paddy! This is my first real organic run, well not completely true, but first soil build. I ran the dr earth dry amendments last run with good results. Before that was yrs of bottles from ff-canna some runs just planted out in the corn.

Yes this mix is a living soil. From my understanding there is plenty in this mix for a couple runs, all depending on break down time of amendments.

The soil the plants are in now have no rock dust. This new batch i added the rock dust. Jerry has a great write up on the benefits of rock dust. Gives a home for the fungi to latch on to grow, in turn enzymes break that down for the bacteria to feed on and ultimately feeding the plants. All of that as well as providing minerals also.. Pretty cool when you think about just whats going on down there. Learning a little bit each day

  7. Checked the girls, and I can say kinda shocked every time I see them! Flipped to 12/12 17 days ago and already got decent trichome development, not even finished stretching yet lol. They'll get a final trim and top adjustment Thursday. 20200601_044025.jpg 20200601_044032.jpg 20200601_044036.jpg 20200601_044053.jpg 20200601_044109.jpg 20200601_044119.jpg 20200601_044309.jpg

  8. Seems like soil building is the way to go , I’m sure everybody has their own twist too.

I’ll definitely be doing some research into it .
So thanks for catching my eye with those lovely ladies .

Will you be adding straight water from here on out or do you rock the whole tea thing ?

  9. Thanks Paddy, and you're welcome! Thank you as well my friend for hanging around, and keeping me thinking. I did plan on brewing a tea here and there throughout flower, but as long as they keep this course I really don't think its needed.

I saw a pic of your plants in a thread I believe, man they look good! If you haven't seen Dr M runs both hydro and organic and he kills at both. So much knowledge and experience here its mind boggling!

Worm bin is sprouting lmao, didn't think that through 20200603_043114.jpg

Quick update with some bud shots. Flip+20 day 14ish flower, cuts are day 20 too.
Did 1 last defoliation, well I will still remove the leaf or 2 as they get bigger and block other growth, but the bulk is done. Didn't adjust ties as the tent is full, and nowhere to really open up, so this is it..

Also finally pulled the dead cut ive let in the tent for weeks. The back 2 red spectrum ones are the keepers, the rest will be trashed or maybe put out in the corn in a few weeks, not sure yet. 1 still may not make it

Now its time for the fun to begin. The trichs are heavy and sticky and sweet already

  11. Always enjoy hanging around a tidy grow so you’re most welcome . Thanks for the kind words too

Don’t post much up just here and there when asked questions . Might get some sort of journal going on the next rainy day I’m doing nothing .

Keep it up , your plants are enjoying themselves . Which means REWARDS.

    Happy growing bud .

  12. You're welcome as well my friend. I enjoy posting every few days. It breaks up the madness and im not 1 for keeping log books on hand, so the journal is perfect.

I'm still thinking I got too many tops. Rh is getting hard to manage, lights out spikes to high 80s-90%, lights on always in the 50s. Might not be an issue now, but once there's chunky buds I'm kinda worried. I put a small dehumidifier in the tent, turned the exhaust almost full, still aint doing it. Guess ill have to drop a few hundred on a big dehumidifier and run that in the room the tents in.

Fucking winter was crazy low rh, and now high as hell. I guess this is basement growing though.

  13. Flip+ 24, flower d18, just gonna go off flower day from here in out. Not much really going on, just been watering a little every other day. Cuts are definitely all rooted so 5 out of 6 aint bad.

On the discussion of tea, I've thought it over and later this week I'll brew 1 to replenish the microbial life. Still don't think its needed but I've been getting bored so it'll get done. Maybe I'll give only 1 plant tea, and see if there's a difference or not?

  14. Flower day 22ish. Nothing much to report, still waiting on the bigger dehumidifier to get here, using the little one is a losing battle. When the rh of the room the tent is in is almost 70% cycling more air isn't doing shit. Im afraid to use the small one in the tent during dark hrs because i don't want to risk it, even with the lights taped over its not worth it.

Today I'll be getting some seaweed and fish emulsions for a tea over the weekend.

I'll tell ya these gelatos are covered in trichs and we aren't even close lol. I don't remember this strain being this nice, but it's been a yr or so since I've smoked her. I'm very happy with how things are going.

Cuts are not doing well. Ph is a issue for sure. I don't believe there is any benis in the soil, which is behind the ph issue. They'll get a nice tea too, which should fix that 20200612_030426.jpg 20200612_030432.jpg 20200612_030446.jpg 20200612_030455.jpg 20200612_030622.jpg 20200612_030402.jpg 20200612_030410.jpg 20200612_030417.jpg 20200612_030533.jpg 20200612_030646.jpg

  17. Thanks guys, it means a lot!

Yeah they showed on the 20th so right there with ya biggins. I topped them technically 3 times. First was after a few nodes, then once all that grew out I topped the main tops and very lowest stalks. After that grew out I started training.

I enjoy having so many of us with plants around the same age. All doing something we are passionate about

  18. Well I changed my mind about running the dehumidifier in the tent 24hrs. I definitely noticed a damp smell the past couple days and was really worried about pm. Double taped the light on it with black electrical tape, turned everything off except the dehumidifier and it was definitely blacked out. That said rh only peaked at 71 last night, currently at 41%, damp smell is no more.

I'll start the tea tomorrow for Monday or Tuesday watering. Fish emulsions should be here today, just gonna use what else I have on hand, kelp, and alfalfa meal, guano, castings and molasses. Pretty basic I guess, I'll probably just wing it like I always do anyway lol

  19. I’m currently facing the same issue but still debating buying the de humidifier. Lights on is always ideal 40-50 ,but lights out can hit 70-80 . Any idea on thresholds before rot sets in ?

Probably not worth risking all the work for the sake of a couple of hundred bucks really .

Looking forward to this tea lesson . Gonna order some autos soon and try a lil soil building for the veg room . Will be nice to have hydro and soil going together for the sake of old comparison debates
