Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by Kracked, Apr 29, 2011.

  1. Still, Stone gets u stoned

  2. i think this guy is just someone who's too young to buy a glass bowl so he either made or had his friend make him a bowl...or he would have bought a stone bowl.

but hes slick dawg hes slick.

  3. there's no denying that...you could get stoned from a soda can or plastic bottle

  4. soda cans piss me off so much lol

  5. Stone actually cools smoke down better than glass.

  6. Stone gets u stoneD lol I jus think that's funny haha Fjrirncornpenchdj

  7. Yeah uh...guys, you do realize that stone and glass are in a lot of ways the same for pipes, assuming the proper type of stone is used and its polished correctly, right? Since he said something about native americans thats *probably* made from pipestone which..if you couldnt tell by the name, is something thats used quite often for making pipes.

I love glass too but you need to remember *what* glass is. It's not a mysterious, unknown compound. Borosilicate glass is made from silica and boron oxide.

  8. If you throw a rock in a fire, it doesn't explode.
If you throw a rock in the fire that has a crack in it with water inside, then it will explode.
So don't crack your pipe and then fill it with water and you should be good.

  9. For real, everyone should stop hating on him for his stone pipe. It's a pipe that none of you will ever have to hit so stop bitchin'.

On a lighter note, I think it's a pretty cool pipe man. Keep smoking :smoke:

  10. I'll be 40 next year, but hey, you prob. felt really cool hitting reply on that one, huh? Just relax, man. This is a marijuana site, remember?

  11. Oh, I also think it's probably a good time to mention, the real reason that glass is such an amazing medium for pipes is the flexibility of it when pieces are being made. While the actual properties of glass (i.e., the innertness, the smoothness) are good things for smoking, they aren't unique properties to glass. The way it shapes when molten is, though.

  12. I have been looking at some higher end molino glass pipes, and I respectfully rescind my comment about them being ugly, well not ALL of them, but that's prob. true of ANY medium. Still, the prices are quite steep, but they do have definite artistic merit, so it is hard to quantify something like with a dollar amount...w/e they cost a bit too much for me.
I received my granite pipe in the mail today and I'm really pleased. It is beautiful! The natural patterns in the rock (sedimentary?) are amazing! It has a perfect size bowl for me, is signed by the artist, and just keeps finding its way into my hand because it is so pleasant to hold. It just feels cool, and I haven't even smoked out of it yet (turning in my DHS MMJ paperwork sometime this week :D).
I'll put up a review once I've used it. Info is hard to find unless you are on a retail website, so I may as well contribute.
    Be well and be blessed.

  13. Molino is hardly the high end, lol. Stone is certainly not 'better' than glass, I'm just trying to remind people just *what* glass is exactly, lol. In order of materials for something involving combustion, it's roughly glass >/~ ceramic & stone > wood & metal >>>> plastic. Ceramics and stones tend to possess most of the qualities of glass with more durability, but worse aesthetics (this is a generalization based on what people prefer obviously). A lot of the ceramic things you see related to smoking are in fact quartz-ceramic. In the case of those items, there is almost no discernable difference other than appearance (quartz ceramic bats for example are completely white and opaque rather than translucent like normal glass, for example. There may also be slightly more drag depending on how it was shaped and how smooth the final product is.

  14. When you said glass pipes were ugly you had me lost but...

glass and stone are highly effective, I wouldn't smoke out of the one OP posted...to me it would just come down to the best design I like

  15. I could be mixing them up..I looked at a gazillion, and I have several conditions that impair my memory. I was looking here on GC's retail section and they were around $92.00 for a 3.5"-5.5" spoon. To me, that is a LOT of money to pay for a little pipe that I would likely break within 6 mos.!
Thanks for the other info; good stuff!

  16. That thing looks pretty cool, but...
Since when is "harsh hitting" a good thing? lol...
I'm on the "get some glass" boat :D
