Hi guys! I recently bought a magic flight launch box. I know I can make a better one, and I've already got a proof of concept circuit and a functional design complete. I am hoping to have a functional prototype working to show everybody in 1-4 months. It will be way easier to use and will be just better in nearly every way. Already, I've increased battery efficiency by over 50%. I can vapourize 3 solid trenches on a single charge of 2 AA's, vs. MFLB's 1 AA for every trench. In addition, I have plans to double the battery life of the improved design. I'm hoping I can get your guys' opinion on something. (1) Do you feel this is a feature worth $15? The ability to run on lithium ion AA batteries and regular rechargable batteries instead of just lithium ion AA batteries. Lithium Ions allow the vapourizer to last 6 to 9 bowls instead of the 3 to 4 with High-Capacity (2700mAh) NiMH batteries, and are lighter. (2) Would you be willing to pay the same price as a magic flight launch box for my vapourizer after I show you guys a finished product ($120)? Mine will have a controllable temperature, so that the temperature doesn't start off hot and get weaker as it is drained. The temperature remains at whatever level you want it to be at until the battery dies. If for nothing else, it is a wise decision to buy one of mine instead because of that. (3) I'm just some guy who will be making and selling these. How do you feel about that? I'm not an established company, but I'm a very reasonable person. Would you rather buy from a company? (3) Would you be more interested in buying my vapourizer if I compared it to the MFLB feature by feature and showed you guys how it's better?
Yes!! Please do this! This sounds like a fantastic idea! If you compare it to a mflb and it truely is as good as you say i will deffinetly consider buying it. It would probably be better to buy from a company but if i get to know you it wouldnt be so bad. This is a great idea and if it works could cause other companies to improve their products to compete! All in all GREAT idea. Please keep me updated!
Also i think that feature IS worth 15$. Amd if it works better than a mflb i would probaby pay the same price
I would not be interested only for 2 reasons. 1. I am a loyal MF customer and i wouldn't abandon them just because they have competition of sorts 2. You said nothing about a warranty, If you can produce something with the same specs as the current box with functional improvements AND capture the same beauty of a flight box i might be on bord......oh ya and a warranty along with batteries, stem, some sort of locking mech and all that good stuff. Size is also a HUGE factor.
Not to insult you or start anything with you @packabowldawg but if this design turns out to be better than the mflb then wouldnt it make more sense to get this then "stay loyal" and not "abandon mf". This is called being a smart customer
I agree with the post above. The warranty was one of the main reasons I decided to buy the MFLB. Though they work well I was particularly afraid of it breaking because its made to be portable, and thus exposed to more potential damage, as well as still having a few fragile parts, mostly the mesh in the trench. If you could offer a warranty, and reliably back that warranty (which would be difficult for just a guy as opposed to a company. As a guy you can just decide to stop making them pretty easily, where as a company has investors to think of) then I would certainly support your invention. I don't know if I would buy it because my MFLB works fine for now, and I have no need for a second, even if it is easier to use.
Yes it makes more sense on paper, but MF has always been good to me. Their company has built a reputation as being a powerhouse in the vape market. I'm just not the type to abandon a company as soon as something a bit better comes out. Guess im a fanboy of sorts. A smart customer, imo, sticks by his investment in a company. If this somehow turned out to be better ( and that would mean ALL the bells and whistles included along with the peace of mind that im not vaping out of something harmful) i would give MF a chance to up it. If they didnt in a decent amount of time then i'd take my investment and move it else where.
Yup. And its a full REPLACEMENT warranty..........for life. No other company or individual offers this. They won't take your old unit, spend 2 weeks working on it and then send it back to you. Nope...........MF will send you a brand spankin' new one (for as long as you own it and for as long as they stay in business).
If you made it cheaper. I know it doesn't cost MFLB nearly 100$ to make one so for you to charge 120$ for a person who is pretty much ripping off their entire idea, but charging More. The chinese knockoffs are allways way cheaper for a reason. However, I do like the extended battery life idea. If you released for like 60-75 i would consider it.
Make it so that the batteries can be placed inside the unit (not loose) and you just press a button/switch to activate instead of constantly fiddling with the battery. Also, it needs an adapter for home use. Carrying non-labeled batteries around that only last a couple trenches and fumbling with them isn't appealing to me and is the main reason why I have yet to buy one of these. Competition is good, hopefully it will push MF into making their own improved version. It's already a good product but it could definitely be much better...
I should mention that it's my degree to do calculations on this stuff. I will totally include a lifetime replacement warranty too. In fact, I can one-up that. I can build my vapourizer to mechanical, electrical, and thermal standards. I can do math and stuff so that I know it's never going to break and has a working life of 'x' many years. And if it does break, I know it's a fault from production, and I will be happy to repair/replace your vapourizer. When I say repair, I mean that I will swap out the faulty components and the components that experience fatigue with new components. Functionally, I will make it new. But if you want a replacement, I will be happy to give you a replacement instead. Some Features: IMPROVED DESIGN: - Temperature control thumbwheel. MFLB starts off hot and then doesn't get hot enough after about 2/3 of the battery's charge is used up. My design uses up all of the battery's usable energy, and YOUR TEMPERATURE IS WHERE YOU WANT IT. Also, this makes batteries last 50% longer. -Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries. These are safe and last 4x as many cycles as NiMH rechargables. In addition, more of the energy is usable do to the improved discharge curve, so although the capacity isn't larger, it can use more of the battery's energy. -. MFLB's design takes hot air from around the screen and sucks it down, stealing heat away from the pot on top. My design will be just as ash-free (pardon the expression) but will also vapourize the pot better, since the hot air is now flowing over the pot instead of the other way onto nothing. Because of this, you can vapourize active ingredients that are not in contact with the screen, getting more out of your pot. I have an old methanol-fueled lightbulb-vapourizer-based design that vapourized the pot more than the MFLB does. The MFLB doesn't have any penetrative heat. TLDR; (1) I'll match their warranty. (2) Some design features are significantly improved battery life and a user-controllable temperature anywhere from "smoking it" to "not even aromatics".
OP, when you gonna make a prototype? I really wanna see this thing in action and a comparison to the mflb
This thread is kind of being silly. What we have in here is, well maybe, he could just be doing this for amusement as well as to maybe steer it towards trolling, doubt it, but weirder things have happened. Loyalty towards a company should not be honor bound until death. RooR was one of the first to really get GonG popular as well as make it to a superb quality level. Doesn't mean I should still support them today, their tech is out dated and over priced. Same with the MFLB, they produced one of the best hand held vaporizer's out there. Now it's their job to sink or swim. If the thread creator here can one up them, he should one hundred percent do it. If no one improved, we'd still have model T's. It's why the internet and pharmaceutical industries are so backwards and ancient, they cut out competition therefor stalling the progress of the market and preventing genuinely interested people in improving a design. The world is ruthless and constantly changing, and if Magic wants to remain one of the best hand held vaporizer companies, they better get a move on. MFLB in itself is just a prototype. It is very simple, unrefined technology. Again like RooR bongs. As a consumer you should be happy this thread is existing so quickly after MFLB has become popular. It means in a decade the MFLB you know now will be what the RooR bong of '99 is to the Luke Wilson of '11. @ OP - I applaud you for setting this task on yourself. I myself am the owner of a MFLB, and the concept is without a doubt why I bought it. However I don't have 2700 batteries, and the normal ones that come with are lackluster to say the least. Maybe I'm spoiled because of my desktop vape, but I can just throw my weed into it and get much more out of my weed in much less time. I don't care for the learning curve either, getting a good amount of vapor consistently is hard, even though I try and be consistent on draw. It's goofy feeling and looking to hold, I am a lot less pleased with my MFLB then I was a couple months ago. That's why I am excited for your ideas. I also agree with the sentiment to an internal holding facility for the battery versus it sticking out the way it does now. Even if you changed the box slight enough to have the battery sit inside and you push on a ring to depress the button. Same concept, just inside and you hold a button rather then the raw battery. My friend I will be looking forward to this, let's just hope you aren't stuntin or fall out because you find out it's more work then previously anticipated. Keep at it, if you do Magicbox will outright hire you, pay you for your design, or go out of business. Your future will be bright if you one up it.
