In just ten days Donald Trump is going to be sworn in as the next President of the United States. There is a lot of fervor in the cannabis community over his pick for Attorney General, a rather odious Republican senator from the state of Alabama, Senator Jeff Sessions.
Among the many other issues there are with Senator Sessions (and there are many), he is strongly opposed to cannabis legalization. He has even gone so far as to say that “good people don’t smoke marijuana.” Senator Sessions could not be any more incorrect.
It’s completely unfair to demonize an entire section of the population because of the fact that they smoke a plant, not to mention dishonest. All you need to do is look at the variety of people who use cannabis.
Many veterans use cannabis to treat medical conditions such as chronic pain and PTSD. They’ve managed to improve their quality of life and are overall much happier than they were in the past. Are these people who’ve fought for our country bad people, Senator Sessions?
Children who suffer from severe, and in many cases life threatening, seizure disorders have had their lives saved by using CBD oil to treat their conditions. Look at the case of Charlotte child suffering from Darvet’s syndrome and the inspiration for the strain Charlotte’s Web. She was suffering from over 300 debilitating seizures a day prior to being treated with CBD. Now she is able to enjoy all of the things that little girls should be able to enjoy. Is she a bad person, Senator Sessions?
Are old women who use cannabis to treat their glaucoma bad people? Are people who go to work everyday, pay their taxes, vote, and indulge in a little herb bad people? Perhaps the bad people are those who peddle dangerous and addictive prescription pills.
Perhaps the bad people are those who lie about a plant which helps so many people. Perhaps the bad people are those who carry water for these drug companies so that they can continue peddling their dangerous “medicine.” You’re wrong Senator Sessions.
