New Jersey Senator Claims Weed Will Kill You If It’s Too Dank

  • Comments

A New Jersey state senator recently made a claim about cannabis that was so ridiculous I nearly spit out my coffee when I read it: apparently if your bud is too dank it will kill you. No seriously, this is what he said. Senator Ronald Rice (D-Newark) said while arguing against the strong trend of legalization in the country that while he was okay with legalization as a way to  curb incarceration of young black men, he added, “I still want to deter people from doing something that’s bad for them,” said Rice. “If you get too high you die from it… It kills you directly if it’s too potent.”

So basically if your bud is too dank, it will kill you. I’d hate to see what he thinks concentrates will do. First of all, as we all know by now cannabis has never killed anyone, let alone high THC cannabis. It’s been jokingly said that you would have to smoke over one thousand pounds of weed to overdose on it. Basically it would be physically impossible to consume enough weed to kill yourself.

So, why do people like New Jersey Senator Rice say these things? They know that they are not true. Could it be that there is an ulterior motive at work here? Rice was a former police officer for the city of Newark before running for mayor in 2006. He certainly has no love for Cory Booker, the New Jersey senator who introduced the Marijuana Justice Act, which would have ended cannabis prohibition throughout the US last year. As a former law enforcement officer, he certainly would have no love for cannabis.

One can imagine that there is a lot of pressure being put on New Jersey lawmakers from neighboring New York state to keep recreational cannabis from happening. Current governor Andrew Cuomo still subscribes to the gateway drug myth

There is almost always an ulterior motive with cannahaters, especially when they’re being as blatantly dishonest as this.

Why do these people insist on saying idiotic things about cannabis? Are they that ignorant, or is there something else going on? Tell us in the comments!
