In the veg tank in this pic, bell siphon in the back ground, 10" aquatic plant basket holds the 6" rockwool cube that does and will successfully carry the roots of that plant until time to transfer to flower, (I have fully grown plants to 4 ' tall with 95% of the roots staying inside the cube).
