I hooked up the cool tube, before I was just running as an open fixture. It really does cut the heat on the leaves significantly. The first fan I used was a cheap in-line duct booster fan. I'll never buy another one of those things, it could barely push any air at all through the 6" duct, no fans, no grates or filters, it just plain didn't suck (I tried blowing too, it was no better). So I remembered an old blower I had salvaged long ago, and it works like a charm. Unfortunately it isn't variable so it's more air and noise [size=4]than I really need, but boy is that light fixture cool now! The cardboard shield is to keep stray light from getting into the inlet, there is a bit of a glow coming out of the end despite the bends, maybe I'll replace with a more attractive solution later..
