5) Assemble the unit
Start to assemble the unit by screwing in the dimmer switch and iron to the wooden base. Then solder the wires together under the block. The dimmer switch I had, had 3 wires. Just tape-off the extra ground wire. The other 2 wires are the A/C current. One wire from the wall goes directly to the iron. The other wire from the wall is interrupted by the switch. Hook up the wires without solder first so you can test it and make sure it's correct, then solder them. Use electrical tape to cover the bare wires. Then use duct tape to hold the wires underneath the block. This is where the stick-on feet are needed. To make the chamber, scrape and clean the labels off a wine bottle and wrap masking tape about 2" from the bottom. Try to wrap the tape in a straight line so the bottle will sit pretty flat. Use a glass cutter to scribe next to the edge of the tape. I made a tool to break the scribe from the inside, it's a bolt screwed into the end of a dowel. Use emery cloth to take off the sharp edges. --Or, if you don't want to mess with cutting the glass, you could use a plastic 2-liter pop bottle and cut the bottom off with scissors.
