The cannabis industry is one of the fastest growing industries in America. It’s even supposed to surpass the manufacturing industry in a few years. So, where does one go to find a job in this lucrative industry? The answer is a new site called Vangsters, which is being hailed as the “Indeed for weed”.
According to TNW.com, the cannabis industry will be adding a quarter of a million jobs “over the next five years.” This is partially because more and more states are choosing to legalize cannabis. California, who is estimated as having the sixth largest economy in the world, just legalized cannabis for recreational use last fall, and as such is preparing to open their recreational market. Other states are planning on following suit.
While job seeker’s sites like Monster and Indeed do allow postings for jobs in the cannabis industry, they don’t have the discretion that dispensaries and other employers in the cannabis industry are looking for. For one thing, Vangsters, does not have a social media presence, and does not plan on having one in the future. This is sure to be a positive for those who are looking for a job in the industry, but do not want other potential employers seeing that they applied for those jobs. It’s unfortunate, but there is still a stigma attached to cannabis, even in legal states. Vangsters is completely anonymous. Employers hire directly from the platform.
Roger Obando, who does the hiring for the cannabis tech company Baker, had this to say about his experiences using Vangsters, “Vangst has been instrumental in doubling our team size over the past six months by sourcing candidates for finance, sales, engineering, marketing and customer success. I’m excited to see Vangst continue to expand their offering through Vangsters and provide much needed services to our rapidly growing industry.”
How will this grow the cannabis industry? We’ll just have to wait and see. You can check out Vangsters here.
