A couple in Orlando got more than they bargained for when they found 65 pounds of cannabis in their Amazon order. The couple, who asked to remain anonymous, were purchasing plastic totes to put some things in storage. They knew immediately that something was off when they noticed that their packages were much heavier than expected. Instead of weighing around thirty pounds, the parcel was weighed in at 93.5 pounds.
One member of the couple said that they could smell the cannabis as soon as they opened the package, and they decided to call the cops. The police seized the goods and an investigation is ongoing. The couple said they were afraid to sleep in their home after getting their order. “We were still pretty fearful our home would be broken into, and we didn’t sleep there for a few days,” they said.
The couple ordered the totes through Amazon Warehouse Deals, which is billed as “great deals on quality used products.” It was originally shipped via UPS from Massachusetts. The couple claims they have been in contact with various representatives from the online shopping giant since the incident happened last month, but they never spoke to a supervisor.
A statement released by the company said, “Our customer service team worked directly with the customer to address concerns and will work with law enforcement to investigate the case, as needed.” The couple received a $150 dollar gift card from the company. Really, they could have at least paid for the couple’s hotel when they were too afraid to stay at their home.
Amazon has been the first in pretty much all aspects of online shopping, pioneering next day delivery and starting programs like Prime. Apparently now you can add cannabis to your Wishlist.
