Have you wondered why CBD is becoming such a hit among lifestyle gurus and other health-minded people? It’s because as it turns out, CBD might actually be pretty good for you! This is especially the case when it comes to your workout routine.
If you weren’t aware, one of the reasons you feel sore after working out is because of inflammation, specifically muscle inflammation. After a good workout, your muscle tissue becomes deeply inflamed (no matter how much you stretch out beforehand). There is now evidence that shows that CBD does contain anti-inflammatory properties, which can be useful for preventing exercise related injuries. In other words, you’re more likely to pull a muscle or end up with a sprain of some kind.
If CBD has anti-inflammatory properties, then it should follow that using CBD prior to working out would improve your overall results. Lots of people are seeing results from using CBD, hence why you are starting to see it eeeeeverywhere. Unfortunately, due to restrictions on cannabis research, there is only scant evidence to support this. Now that a federal court has ruled that CBD is a schedule I substance, there is not likely to be any anytime soon.
This does not mean that researchers are not interested in conducting further research on the benefits of CBD. Results from a study published in Frontiers in Neurology by Thorsten Rudroff, a scientist who studies exercise and and the director of the Integrative Neurophysiology Laboratory at Colorado State University showed that CBD can be an effective resource for reducing pain and increasing overall mobility in pain patients. He absolutely believes that we should be studying the phenomena of CBD and exercise further.
“There’s basically no research on the topic. We need to investigate CBD’s effects on inflammatory biomarkers [compounds like C-reactive protein in the body that occur with inflammation] in athletes and exercise recovery,” Rudroff said in an interview with US News and World Report.
More and more professional athletes, especially former NFL players are using CBD to manage the chronic health problems that come with playing professional sports. There is definitely something to using CBD for your workout. I know that it limbers up my muscles and makes it possible for me to do yoga in my thirties. Definitely try it if you haven’t!
